First time buyer: Bodyline show sizing?

Let me just start by saying: I'm not very 'Lolita.' I understand just about everything about it but being broke and finding it to be a bit too much for my daily life (IE: lace would get torn by kitties, blouses dirtied due to dogs, etc). I hope no one gets offended by that.

Anyway! It's my first time buying anything from Bodyline (I'm on Bodyline Yokoso) or Japan in terms of shoes and from what I've read on the EGL LiveJournal (some of them aren't very nice; past experience), Bodyline has a "broken" size chart. I'm trying to pick shoes that will fit the character Stocking (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt), whose pretty gothic lolita; most aspects I have down but the shoes! Plus I'm trying to pick shoes that I can wear again.

I'm looking at either the 137's or 153's but can't find a review of either shoe to tell me whether they run big or small since Bodyline shoes aren't all made the same. I wear about a US 7 or 8, but 8 is often too big in any heels for me and I have a feeling I could be a 7 1/2. (I haven't bought new shoes in a store in forever) ^_^; I really don't know my size in Japanese sizes! Last time I order shoes from an Asian-based company was December and they listed shoes in US sizes.

If this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry! I thought the EGL community would know best. And sorry if I'm slow in replying, I'm on mobile and Cosplay.com doesn't like my iPod very much.

Bodyline's shoe sizes are based on centimeters. Measure your largest foot from your heel to the tip of your big toe. Add half a centemeter to the result, and that is the size shoe you would get. You need to add this half centemeter because all of Bodyline's shoes run a bit small.

And for some reason Bodyline often forgets to add a decimal on their size selection, meaning a 255 and a 25.5 are the same size.

Also, when you order from Bodyline make sure to set the currency to yen. Everything costs much less because they are very neglectful with their overseas site!

Well, that's a massive change. I just really need to decide if I want to buy them super badly now or skip for the time being. I also don't know how Paypal will handle the order if I have the site & thus the prices set to yen. I know they do orders in the originating country's currency (such as pounds) but I'm afraid I'll get some crazy price hit by accident.DX There's also air mail VS EMS.

PayPal can handle currency conversion, no sweat. They do charge a small commission fee though. I pay in Yen because Bodyline doesn't accept my country's currency, and currently Yen is the cheapest option for me. You can go through and compare your cart price in the various currencies and do a quick google of each to see what is cheapest for you.

I like to use airmail because I am a cheap skate who hates paying much for shipping. It still gets to my pacific country quickly and safely. If you can't trust your local postal service though, EMS may be more guaranteed.

I have shoes 153. Don't bother with Bodyline's size chart, it's not worth the trouble. Measure your feet in centimetres, don't add the extra half centimetre because they do not run small, they're true to size. So, my feet measured about 25.5cm, so I ordered size 25.5, and they fit me very well. Also, those shoes are pretty comfortable, I'd recommend them if you're going to be wearing them a lot. Although shoes 137, to me, look like they'd suit Stocking's style more... It's up to you which to choose, really ^_^
And yeah, definitely order in yen! You can save a lot of money that way, since the yen isn't too strong at the moment.

I realize you were asking about shoes that would work not only for daily life, but that would be good for Stocking Anarchy too..I don't know how much you know about Stocking, but she wears school loafers..Not Lolita style shoes..
These are more what you want:

A lot of cosplayers use Lolita style shoes because they assume that the Lolita looking outfit she wears means that she has to be wearing Lolita shoes, but she doesn't.

Stocking's shoes are loafers, like JasonTerror said. But Bodyling does sell loafers like that, shoes186.

But if you're wanting lolita shoes to wear again for lolita, either shoe would work.

But it's a good rule of thumb that most things from Japan will run small. They're just small in general.

I wish I had of known about the Yen conversion yesterday when I ordered my first dress. but I'll add this. In yen, when I converted it back my dress was $7 cheaper in Yen. I'm in the USA. I would not be surprised if the price difference is like that on purpose. They just hike up the price for people who are outside of Japan??

I always thought Stockings shoes were loafers too , not that the Lolita shoes wouldn't look cute. Come to think of it I've only seen Lolita shoes with that cosplay (with my own eyes)

Yea, that's actually a really good reasoning on why others may do it..It just "fits", I guess would be the word..Like it seems more like they SHOULD be Lolita style shoes.

They have a separate site for Japanese customers. What is cheaper is based on the luck of the exchange rates. Bodyline don't constantly update their prices, but the exchange rate constantly changes (unless your currency is pegged to theirs). It used to be cheaper for me to buy from them in Euros, but it is currently cheaper for me in Yen.
