Question [help] making a trenchcoat for a Seifer cosplay

So as the title said I want to make a trenchcoat for a seifer cosplay, the issue is that I:
a) don't remember how to make patterns, I haven't sewn anything in the last 7 or 8 years
b) I don't know what materials to use, the qualities I need are that it's a somewhat heavy and flexible material that will drape down like the coat should, preferably a somewhat rough material as well
Then of course the lining, I don't know exactly what material is suitable for the lining.

Or, to rephrase that in the form of a question.
How do I make patterns and what material(s) is suitable for this project given the aforementioned list of materials?

As far as I can tell the lining of the vest ends at waist height, how would I manage to pull that off without ugly seams on the back?
What about that collar, how would I pull that off?
For the cross I'm thinking cloth paint, that ought to work, right?

Anyway, the trenchoat is the main issue I have, the pants are pretty straightforward as they seem to be made out of black denim and the design is fairly simple

The vest is another problem though, I don't know what materials it could me made of but making a pattern for it shouldn't be too hard

I don't know where to get or how I would make the necklace but that's a minor issue, most people wouldn't notice if it was missing (and it looks simple enough to make, but there's no point in making it if I can't figure out the rest of this character)

Oh and on another note, I'm already making hyperion (his gunblade)

I found /showthread.php?t=126287 but it really didn't help

Anyway, some reference images for what I'm going for:

How do I make a pattern for a trenchcoat that looks like Seifers (collar and all) with lining that ends at waist height all without any ugly seems on the back, then I would quite enjoy some help on how to make the vest and what materials would be suitable.

P.S Oh and lastly, this is kinda urgent so any help, no matter how miniscule, is appreciated
P.P.S I would prefer not to buy the pattern as I'm trying to keep the budget as low as possible (hey now, not everyone can afford fancy things, I have to work within my financial limits)
P.P.P.S Please keep the terminology to a minimum, I am not in any way familiar with sewing terminology.

UPDATE: I did some more research and was told that the trenchcoat would be heavy cotton and Corduroy, at least that's solved :P Now I just need to figure out the vest \(^o^)/

You are assuming that spending $6-8 bucks on a pattern is a waste of money, yet you are also saying the project is urgent. Frankly, the coat you want to make is not beginner friendly. If you don't understand sewing terms, you won't get pattern drafting terms either. Also, pattern making usually involves making a muslin or rough draft garment out of additional fabric. I guarantee you the pattern will be cheaper than the yardage required for a muslin.

Spend the six bucks on a Halloween trench coat pattern.
Nothing is impossible, but some things are very expensive. Instagram: penlowe
My Etsy shop: I make non-fitted custom things to ship within the continental US. I only do fitted garments for those whom I can meet in person.

Yeah, I'm a big advocate of making your own patterns but this this not a good "first pattern drafting project".

I don't see anything to indicate that the lining ends at the waist. That's a perfectly valid way to make a coat, but I don't see that in the reference pictures. Also, drafting a pattern like that is certainly not a "my first project" type thing - to draft this yourself you need to already understand how coats work from the inside out and be able to make a creative take on it.

If this is urgent, consider that it will most likely take you over a month to learn how to draft patterns well enough to do this, if you worked on it for a few hours every day and started with small projects.

Buying a pattern will be cheaper - the paper to make the pattern and the muslin to work it out will cost more than just buying one.

Actually in the pipes:
- Remaking Ser Loras doublet.
- Luke Skywalker, A New Hope
- Wind Waker starter costume in swim material
Eventually: Paul from Dune, Faramir, Harry Sullivan

Ah yes, both of you certainly make valid points but to clarify a few things: I'm not a beginner, I just don't know the terminology (I just moved to Canada, I've lived in Sweden all my life and I frankly don't know the terminology)
For patterns I was merely looking for a refresher, I have made them before I just can't recall how from the top of my mind (anyway, I did recall after a lot of searching)

And even though there is nothing indicating that the lining ends at the waist I know it does (but I couldn't find any of the original character design drafts nor did I find any fanart or screenshots from in-game FMV's that would indicate this, then again I didn't try too hard to find any either)

For knowing how coats work, I admit I don't know that, I'll just find a cheap pattern that can be modified

Anyway, my main questions right now are: How on earth would I make that collar? (I can't seem to figure it out)
And: Apparently denim is really expensive, what other material would work for the pants? (I'm not exactly well-versed with materials)
So far my list of materials include:
Heavy cotton, a lot of heavy cotton (coat, vest and possibly pants if I can find some that matches the color I'm looking for)

I'll probably end up buying a pair of leather gloves as I don't know how where to obtain leather like that.
