Name of Commissioner: Chergnomebyl Props
Website/C.com gallery: http://www.cosplay.com/member/175867
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): The Buster Sword (prop) as seen with Lightning Farron from Lightning Returns (Cloud Strife DLC)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6582d488.jpg
Timeline (how long your order took to process) : Contacted in early November for an early May Deadline. Received item on April 24th.
Describe your Experience:
I was looking for a commissioner who could handle creating a prop as big (and tricky) as the Buster Sword, especially if it were to be proportioned to my height (5'9). Did some research on cosplay.com and found Chergnomebyl Props. Their prop commissions looked gorgeous, detailed, and came with nothing but positive reviews. I reached out to them on November 8, 2013, and they were really quick with responses to my questions. They listed the prices and all of my options were I to have the sword made to proportion. It was a bit more than what I wanted to pay, but the transaction seemed fair for what I was asking, and I knew that the quality would be at a high standard judging from previous commissions.

Seeing as how my deadline wasn't until May, I was pretty lax with little communication until I could get the payment through. They were very accommodating in that regard, and assured me that I would receive the item in time.

When I asked for progress photos eventually, they did send some, and kept me updated on the progress of the sword as it was worked to completion. When it was done, I was sent photos of the finished product, and was not disappointed! The sword looked fantastic and true to detail (as seen in the link), and on top of that, it was made with foam, allowing it to be lighter than expected for such a large scale prop. In the end that probably saved me some shipping money, as well as the peace of mind that I would be able to carry it at a convention.

Once shipment payment was cleared, the sword arrived in less than a week with minimal issues (aside from some minor customs and UPS issues, but those were not at the fault of Chergnomebyl Props). I'm happy to say it looks just as good in real life as it does in the pictures. The weight is great, and it's the perfect height. No complaints here whatsoever.

Pros: Extremely quick responses to emails and questions, fair pricing, and great attention to detail! Overall friendly demeanor, and highly accommodating. The whole process was painless, as cosplay commissions should be.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Comments: Highly recommended, and I will definitely be back for future prop commissions!

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Starfire from Red Hood and the Outlaws entire costume

Timeline (how long your order took to process): January (I think)-April 24, 2014
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.:
Pros: Started off good with communication, costume turned out decent, respectful, good price.
Cons: Slowed down in replying, missed my deadline (I forgive her because my con was on easter weekend), didn't finish my costume, gems weren't glued on (had to do it myself), said in note that she added some silicone straps but I couldn't find any straps, no waistband on the bottoms so my bottoms keep on falling down. I really wanted to like her but theres just too many cons.

Unfortunately, I had only seen reviews for this person on the old commissioner thread. Had I seen this more recent thread, perhaps I wouldn't have commissioned them

Name of Commissioner: Milzarr Celrus/Errido

Character commissioned and series/video game: Future Style Kagamine Rin module from Project Diva F (shirt, skirt, tie, arm warmers, socks, and hair bow)

Timeline: January 3rd - Now (April 24th)

Describe your Experience:

Pros: Very friendly in the beginning. Communication was fast. The outfits in their gallery were absolutely gorgeous. From what I understand, costumes are a team effort, so I felt that my cosplay was in good hands.

Cons: Well, the most disappointing part of this experience is that I never actually received my costume. I have lost a total of $157.12 after shipping, $130 of which was my grandmother's. Contact drastically slowed down after the costume was supposedly shipped. Contact has ceased now. The convention I planned on wearing this outfit to has passed. Sadly, it's way too late to file a PayPal dispute.

Comments: Okay, so on July 24th, 2013, I sent an E-mail asking Milzarr if they still do cosplay commissions. I had seen their previous work (see above link) and I thought the outfits were incredibly beautiful. They replied on January 3rd, 2014 to tell me that they had just reopened on the 1st. I figured they had just been on a hiatus, which is fine. Over the next week, we discussed the price, deadline, and measurements. I was told that the outfit would be $130 for the shirt, skirt, tie, arm warmers, socks, and hair bow. I thought this was pretty decent, considering their past projects were so lovely. As for the deadline, I told them I needed the costume by the beginning of April since the convention would be later that month. They said they would probably finish it before March, which was fine by me.

On January 9th I paid in full (big mistake! Now I guess I know for the future...) and told them to ask any questions if they needed anything. On February 23rd, I heard back from them. They showed me the completed outfit (see above pictures) and asked if I was okay with the final product. I said it was great, paid the $27.12 shipping (they said I should receive it in 3-7 days), and that's when they told me they would send me the tracking number when it was available. Great, so everything was going pretty well. That is, until three weeks went by with no sight of the costume, or even the tracking number for that matter.

I sent an E-mail on March 13th asking if my costume had been shipped out yet (though, by that time I was wondering if maybe it got lost in the mail). They said that my costume was shipped, but they forgot to send me the tracking number and I should have received it by now. Then they said that they would "check". Check what? The tracking number that you didn't give me? I don't know.

Anyway, three more weeks go by with no costume. I E-mail them two more times (once on March 18th and once on March 26th) before I finally got a reply on April 1st. The E-mail simply said "Have you received the costume yet?". That was the last I heard from them. I E-mailed them twice after that, and I sent a third using a different E-mail address, thinking that maybe there was something wrong with my usual address. Still nothing. I don't think I'm getting my costume.

Overall, this has been a pretty horrible experience. I have lost a total of $157.12, which is the first (and hopefully the last) time I've spent a decent amount of money and received nothing in exchange. It's a real shame because I liked what I saw in those pictures. I sincerely hope that this review is helpful and that people stay away from Milzarr Celrus/Errido. I don't want anybody else to be disappointed when they see an awesome costume that they'll never actually get to wear, like me.

What I find strange is that they competed my costume, shipped it (supposedly), and "forgot" to send me the tracking number. If they planned to rip me off all along, why actually put in the time and effort to make the costume? Was it just to squeeze the shipping cost out of me? What about the tracking number? Did they honestly forget to send it to me, or was it just so I couldn't see proof of shipment? Was this all a huge misunderstanding? I might have considered it, had it not been for the other two reviews saying that they didn't receive anything as well. That being said, I think it's safe to assume that I will not be getting my costume. If I sort this out, I will update this post.

Final Grade: F+ Never Recieved. The + is only because the costume had actually been completed.

Timeline: Aug.27th,2012 to June.4th,2013 and arrived June.13th,2013

Describe your Experience: I first contacted her about asking her if she did commission's and she had said that she did and what I was looking for I sent her the inquiry with every picture of the dress of what I wanted it to look like.

Then I got a quote and since it was lower then I would thought it be for this dress I had asked about getting a 2nd one done (there will be another review for that) and once again got a quote put the two quotes together talked about payments then confirmed the commission with her.

As soon as I confirmed it she sent me links to fabrics to look at to see if I would like it or not then we waited for the samples to come to her which didn't turn out as well as we hoped for but then she went fabric shopping herself and got amazing fabric

Few months later my first photo shows up on her page and I was really happy about that she posted progress of the bodice, the skirt and then everything finished and supplied me with a Tracking Number to track it until it arrived.

Now receiving this had made me more happier then I could ever been in my wildest dreams

Pros: Looked at fabric right away, ordered samples and saw the pictures of them, was really nice and understanding about anything that came up she always understood about it, Really amazing lady will definably going back to her in the future.

Cons: None

Timeline: Aug.27th,2012 to June.4th,2013 and arrived June.13th,2013

Describe your Experience: This was the last dress she had made for me so it was made around the end of May and I was worried that she would need more time to finish it so I messaged her asking if she wanted more time.

She responded that she was going to keep to the June Deadline and I was happy she did

Both dress's are more amazing in person then they are from the photo's I can't describe in words how much I love these dress's and how much they mean to me

Pros: Looked at fabric right away, ordered samples and saw the pictures of them, was really nice and understanding about anything that came up she always understood about it, Got Tracking number for it and Really amazing lady will definably going back to her in the future.

Timeline: May.25th,2013 - Mar.11th,2014

Describe your Experience: I had found out about her through DeviantArt at - http://mrsgnob.deviantart.com/ which took me awhile how to find out how I could get a hold of her cause her work I seen was amazing.

When I was finally able to contact her through G-Mail we talked I asked her about if she did commissions and which ones I wanted which where 3 dresses at the time I asked for she started on Princess Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle since we both figured it would take the longest.

After my first payment towards her she started working on it her progress was amazing since she was on holidays from work we both kept in regular contact with each other even when she went back to work she let me know ahead of time that she wouldn't be able to work on the dress as much.

Now that it's arrived she is taking a much needed break and is also getting married which I wished her a big congrats on and then I asked her if we could continue after her wedding and honeymoon where done and she said "As long as I wore the dress or loved it that we could continue"

She is a little hard to understand since she's Russian so it takes a bit of understanding to understand what either of us are trying to say but we have gotten through it

Pros: Looked at fabric right away, Saw the fabric choices and was able to choose between all of them, Was Always kept up to date, As soon as she got to work right away the progress was done so fast but really amazingly well done, Packaged so well with static paper on both sides so the dress or anything wouldn't get ruined.

Cons: Only compliant that I have is that there was no latch hock at the top of the zipper to zip it up easier but I could easily grab one at the fabric store and carefully sew it in place only using the inside of the dress fabric not the outside.

Timeline (how long your order took to process) December 11th, 2013- April 7th, 2014

Describe your Experience- i had contacted Uniquecreator while looking for a commissioner to create my nurse costume. i needed a commissioner to make it because i wanted pockets in the back to carry my items, and i had tried contacting Setsuna Kou, who did not respond. Uniquecreator was polite and willing to break down the cost of each item, making the price seem fair.and she was willing to accept my deadline, early April, and let me do a payment plan.

there were a few mess ups, where her first attempt at my mask was most certainly not what i wanted...a mistake on her part, as i guess she overlooked the reference image for the mask i had sent in january, before any work had even begun on the dress. and communication was rather minimal. when i got the package, it was very well packed, even in plastic bags. she did surprise me in the fact that she even made a framework for the mask to keep it in place. the only disappointment is that the pockets are over my middle back instead of my butt when i tried it on...though this may be due to the fact the dress is on the short side.

Pros- polite, friendly-ish, quick, good quality. cares about the customer and is fair. she even saved me money on the shipping and returned the extra money promptly!

Cons- minimalist conversation, long gaps in communication. and she was constantly asking me to "bear with her" and be patient, despite the fact i'd often wait 2 weeks in between sending her a message. probably not as friendly as she could be, it definitely felt like it was all business. and it felt like she would tend to ignore some of my questions. a little disorganized at times possibly. the dress also is quite stiff around the shoulders and doesn't really fit comfortably there...though i'm not sure whose fault that is, or if it's just the fabric.

Comments- certainly a good commissioner, though i feel she could use some improvements in her communication skills. does good quality work though, so i would recommend her readily.

Final Grade: B

D-Jenn

Name of Commissioner: D-Jenn

Website/C.com gallery: https://www.etsy.com/shop/shoshanna2003

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Artemis from Young Justice (mask, top, pants, gloves, arm band, belt)

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0f15c76f.jpg

Timeline (how long your order took to process): I commissioned the cosplay on August 4th, 2013. The deadline was November 1st, 2013. I believe I received it on either the 30th or 31st of October, 2013.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I posted an ad in the marketplace, and D-Jenn e-mailed me with some of her past work. Since she provided quite a few examples of superhero costumes that she did, and she had glowing reviews, I chose her as my commissioner on August 4th, 2013.

When we first discussed the project, she made sure that she interpreted the references correctly and was very detail-oriented. For example, she asked if the black trim was part of the outfit or if they were straps coming from the quiver. She also explained to me what materials she intended to use for the project.

Additionally, she asked me when she wanted the project started and I said I would want her to start "as soon as possible" so that she would "have all the time possible before the deadline." I commissioned her the same day that I discussed the project with her and I put down a 50% deposit.

I tried to be the relaxed kind of customer who doesn't harass a commissioner for updates on a daily basis because I figured that they have busy lives and other commissions to do. Also, I have no experience whatsoever sewing stuff, so I felt it best to keep my nose out of things and let people do their work. Unfortunately, this ended up biting me in the butt.

I didn't hear from her again until more than a month later: September 14th, 2013. In this e-mail, she sent me pictures of fabric swatches and said that she sent me an e-mail regarding them "weeks ago." I was pretty skeptical about her claim that she e-mailed me because I use Gmail. For people who aren't familiar with Gmail, pretty much all the e-mails you receive from a person are contained in a thread called a "conversation" so you can conveniently see all your correspondences with one person on a single page. Gmail had listed the conversation as important, so I couldn't understand why it would send her message into spam. And I didn't find any of her messages in my spam folder.

Although another customer had a better experience, she also experienced issues about "emails going into her spam folder or emails not sending." If this is something that is a constant problem, I think D-Jenn should consider switching e-mail providers, or she should attempt to reach out to customers more frequently to make sure that they see her e-mails.

I was pretty concerned that I was getting fabric swatches after more than a month passed. But there was still about a month and a half left, so I pushed the doubt out of my mind. I figured it was still possible that she had gotten other work done in that time frame.

Time passed without anymore correspondence, and I e-mailed her on October 16th, 2013 telling her I was concerned because I haven't received any word from her and my convention was approaching quickly. I didn't receive a response and I e-mailed her again on October 23rd, 2013. This time she responded the next day telling me that she sent me an e-mail "a few days ago." Another e-mail that had mysteriously vanished into the ether.

Then she started asking me for measurements and I was completely mortified. She had three months to make my cosplay, and now we're about a week away from my convention. Other questions she asked me included if I wanted the mask separately from the top or if I wanted them to be a single article. I opted for them to be separate.

On October 28th, 2013, she sent me pictures of the cosplay. To my surprise, it all looked pretty good. She then shipped it out and I received it on either the 29th or the 30th. I don't remember.

The top and the pants were both really good quality. The pants were a little long, but I wore boots with the cosplay so it wasn't a big deal. And it could be from an error on my part because I measured myself.

I'm glad that I asked for the mask and the top to be separate. Now, I understand that it's really hard to make a spandex mask for someone you don't have with you in person. But it seemed like she was looking at a totally different mask when she made it. It seemed like she was trying to make a mask shaped like this when Artemis's mask looks like this. It was essentially a piece of fabric with holes cut in it. The eye holes were also really small and I looked cross-eyed when I tried it on. However, I did like how the open hair part had an adjustable elastic band and thought that was clever.

The pouches on the belt were attached using velcro. So, I could put the belt on through the belt-loops on the pants and attach the pouches to the velcro. Pretty clever. However, the second time I wore the cosplay, which was on April 19th, 2014, I realized that there was something sticky at the end of the belt. At first, I thought I had spilled something sticky on it. Later on, I realized that was not the case. The emblem and all the velcro pieces were glued on and now it was all coming apart. The pouches were openable and the velcro was coming apart on those as well. It ended up being one hot, sticky mess.

When she first contacted me about doing my commission, she said: "I can make the pants with knee pads and holster on the leg, the belt, the arm warmer/gloves, the top and the face mask. Are these all the items that you needed?" I told her that those were all the items I needed, but she did not make the pieces that I bolded and underlined. However, I gave her the benefit of the doubt for the leg holster. There were pictures of a 3D model of the character that showed front, back, and side views, and there didn't seem to be a 2D version with the same thing. The 3D model did not have the leg holster, so I can see why she overlooked that. Still, it was interesting that she left out pieces that she listed herself.

Final Grade: B, she's a talented commissioner, but you have to make sure to keep her on her toes.

Chergnomebyl

Name of Commissioner: Chergnomebyl

Website/C.com gallery: http://www.cosplay.com/member/175867/photos/

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Artemis from Young Justice's bow

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: This is their picture. I have my own pictures, but I have no experience in archery whatsoever and it's pretty obvious from the way I hold it. o_o;

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Chergnomebyl contacted me August 10th, 2013. I believe I sent the down payment on the 11th of August, and I either received the bow on the 23rd or the 24th of October, 2013. I needed it in time for a convention that started on November 1st, 2013, so I received it a week before.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I posted an ad in the marketplace and Chergnomebyl PM'd me on August 10th, 2013 asking for more details (e.g. what size I wanted the bow to be). They then gave me an option for the bow to pull back or not to pull back with a quote for both choices. I was confused by what they meant by pulling back. I was a bit afraid to ask for clarification because I was pretty sure that the meaning was pretty obvious: that you can draw the string back. But I wanted to make 100% sure that it didn't mean that you could fire it.

Anyway, they clarified what they meant nicely to me, and I really appreciated that because I was really embarrassed to ask that question.

I think I sent the down payment on the same day or the next day. Probably the next day which was August 11th, 2013.

On October 17th, 2013, I received a picture of the completed prop and it looked great! Then I paid the second half + shipping.

Thing is, I sent the payment through Paypal's mobile app and, at least at the time, they didn't give you an option to select a shipping address so they used the default one. Which happened to be the address of an apartment I had recently moved out of. Major facepalm there. So, I mailed Chergnomebyl and told them I wanted it shipped to a different address.

There was a communication error of some sort and it was still sent to the apartment. They let me know this right away and I was able to go online and submit a change of address through USPS.com. Fortunately, that seemed to work because it was sent to the right address on either the 23rd or the 24th. I forget. Anyway, I mention this because I really appreciate that they let me know of the situation so I could do something about it. They also offered to pay for the shipping again, even though it was my fault for giving a wrong address in the first place.

The craftmanship of the bow was really nice and it's a very clever design. I say this because the area where you grip the bow isn't a solid object. It's made so the inside is hollow, thus making it very, very light. Being able to draw it back was really cool, too. When I took it to Comikaze, a lot of people approached me because they were impressed with it.

Final Grade: A+

Timeline (how long your order took to process)
-
Commissioner contacted on Feb 13, came back with quote and materials needed by Feb 15th, invoice sent Feb 17th, weapon completed Mar 18th, three weeks before deadline. Very safe and sturdy shipping.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments
.
Wow, these guys were SO communicative, offered several materials with which they could create the weapon, described what they would be using and sent photos of the item once completed. They are courteous, professional, and on point--I have zero complaints. I am most definitely going to use them again in the future.

Final Grade: A+

Name of Commissioner: Kyte27

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Sora from Kingdom Hearts II: Wig only.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None

Timeline (how long your order took to process): It has been about nine months since payment, and I have heard nothing, seen nothing, and possess nothing.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: About 9 months ago, I contacted Kyte27 on deviantart for a commission. He asked me what my budget was, I told him and we made a deal. Then I sent payment, and after a couple weeks? Nothing. No response or update of any kind. I sent a message asking for an update. No response. After a couple months? Still nothing. I sent yet another message, and I was still ignored. Finally, after all this time, I sent yet another message, still no response, no apology, no refund of my money... I was stolen from and here I am.

Buyer beware holds true here. I realize there's nothing I can do at this point, no way to get that money back, but I CAN at the very least spread the word to those thinking about commissioning Kyte27. He took my money and hasn't said a word, so I would recommend finding someone else. Don't bother with him. There's a good chance you'll get burned if you do.

Pros? Not one.
Cons? The biggest of cosplay commissioner cons: I paid for an item I did not receive.

Final Grade: F-

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

Pros:
Nao is very nice and professional. She was willing to work within my budget. She was always very communicative. It helps that she keeps her Facebook active and whenever she might have some delay, she always mentions it and does work harder to make up for it. I was actually working on moving around the time the costume was finished and she was able to work with me to ensure the package was sent to the right place on time.

The costume overall was done very well. Each cross on the bands was hand painted and looked beautiful. The costume fit perfectly! Despite having some weird pieces, it was really easy to figure out how things went on. The fabric was good quality and stitching was strong.

Cons:
I did see a very few things with room for improvement. There are some loose threads on the part that goes over the neck/shoulders. The design on the front of the dress was done as an iron-on transfer. The transfer actually looks very nice since I was able to provide a high quality image of it, but I wasn't expecting it and wish I had been asked or told beforehand. I do understand though that it is a very complicated design with a bunch of kanji, so I totally understand the justification of the iron on to make sure the accuracy was right. While I do like the color of the skirt, it could have been a shade brighter blue. The zipper on the skirt was a flesh colored zipper. This was not at all a big deal though because it is completely invisible. I just thought it was odd.

The last con was the straps. They were a bit difficult to keep up. I asked Nao about how to best keep them up and she was able to provide me with some good advice which I was able to use.

During the con:
The costume held up perfectly!! It gave me no problems whatsoever and was very comfortable to wear for the day. It was even able to hold up while I jumped around at the concert (though my wig did not as it fell off my head. lol).

Final Grade:
A- Quality costume and great communication, just a few details that could be improved on. I would definitely recommend Coslife studios!
