The only cosplay event i've ever heard of in GA is the Anime Weekend Atlanta. Is anyone else going to have a picnic/gathering in Georgia this year?

Hey check out DRAGON CON and SCI- FI SUMMER ATLANTA these are really good conventions to check out and cosplay at. Also I am too wondering if there are any picnic gathers in Georgia as well, but you know maybe I may start one of my own hmmm. I must plot this!!!!! Not plan but plot MWA HA HA AHA HA !!!!

If there's going to be a picnic in GA, count me in!! I'm in SC, but I live right on the northwestern border of GA and SC.

I just recently moved to the Atlanta area with my partner and a good friend of ours. We're looking to meet up with people in the area for photoshoots and other such gatherings. I enjoy taking pictures and am always interested in meeting with people to do photoshoots. I still have my Angel Sanctuary group photoshoot pictures in my gallery if anyone is interested in seeing them.

There a couple of good Cosplayers here in the Atlanta area, but we all seem to keep to ourselves. Carmila had Tried to organize a Photoshoot and picnic, but there was a lack of commentment before hand by folks. The original idea was to have it at Peidmont park, but I am not positive if that is the best of places for a cosplay picnic and photoshoot. I would be up for doing one againa nd very willing to bring along my good camera for the shoot itself.

I think we ought to try to arrange a picnic, that is, if we could get enough people to commit to go. If it is in mid-late June or any time after, I will definetly go! ^_^

Is there any place that everyone thinks is really good for pictures? We don't really want to get too far away from the general Atlanta area, if at all possible. Gas prices being one of the biggest reasons. *keels over* We found some really pretty botanical gardens not too far from us in, I guess, Loganville. We've also been planning on checking out Stone Mountain, and a couple of other gardens that were highly recommended to us.

Hehe...if all else fails, in a year or two when I start up that garden I wanna put in our backyard, we can just do stuff at our house. *laughs*

Hmm... whatever is fine for me. My drive will be at least 2.5 hours, as it is, but to meet up with fellow cosplayers NOT @ a con is definetly worth it!

The botanical garden that's near Loganville (North of Atlanta) is really pretty. We did a shoot one sunday there and it's got plenty of different themed sections. Not the most beautiful place in the world, but it's still pretty.

Yeah Logansvill sounds cool. But Stone Mountain has some pretty scenery too. I'll go anywhere in GA though if it isn't TOO far from Atlanta. And if anyone wants to plan a picnic I'll be happy to help (but it'll be my first )

I have quite a few friends who aren't members of CC who would most definetly attend the picnic, too. ^_^ Ballpark, when are we wanting to do this? Late June?

I am up for atleast being the photographer if not bring out a costume for it. But one problem is I amgone from June 30th till July 7th. Also saturdays are my only good days as I work sundays and most folks work thrusday and fridays. Stone mountain would be fun. it is a large park and has a bunch of neat areas to do shoots at. I will get Carmila to look at this thread. As I talked with her last night and she still wants to have one.

We could have it either the weekend before June 30th or the weekend after July 7th. However, I'm not sure about July 7th, as I will be gone to the Governer's School for 2 weeks prior to Otakon. I'll be bringing at least 4 other people with me.

Well june 30th to July 7th is vacation/AX for me. So as long as it does not fall between those dates I am cool with it. It is good to see intrest in this again. now lets just make it happen.

always count me in... can we try for early july? yeah, i know its going to be death-hot, but i wouldnt be able to make it from june 24-27 - i'm having to go to a land far far away (known as ohio) for a gaming con. i know we wont be able to cater to everyone's needs, but i was just hoping i think the botanical gardens would be perfect...
what i think we need is some sort of official headcount...we need to know exactly how many people are going to be coming for sure, and whether or not we can afford to pull this off
