Hentai Cosplay??

A number of months ago I was scrolling through pics of anime statues and came across one called "Beat Angel Escalayer".This particular character really caught my attention and thought that her outfit would be great for cosplaying. So I decided to do a Google search to find more reference of the character only to find out that she's from a Hentai game(and recently an anime series).
Now I find nothing wrong with cosplaying as this character as there's nothing wierd or even provocitive about her.She has a really pretty outfit.

But I was wondering should the fact that it's from a hentai be a deciding factor whether to do the outfit or not??

I had mentioned on another forum that I wanted to cosplay as her, mentioning that it was from a hentai series and suddenly people started judging me(even though she's wearing more clothes than many "normal" anime girls" do) yet I know that if I never mentioned where it was from there would've been no fuss about it.

So what do you guys think about this??

I saw do what you want. If you like the outfit/character then go for it. It's ironic when you find a hentai character that more cover-up than a mainstream anime character. I did Pink for Dragon with a ton of others. And it's amazing that so many ppl actually recognize you when you do a H-cosplay. When I get around to it I plan on doing the nurse from Dr. Ogenki's Clinic and Ethel from Deus Ex Machina Demonbane (PS2 hentai game).

Yeah... Screw them. Who cares what they think. If the costume is pretty, which I think it is, Do it. Don't let what other people think about you change how you feel. It's all about you baby!

Yea, go for it. If you like the costume, what's the harm?
Just don't go around telling people its from a hentai or, eep, acting out some of your character's... err, script

IMHO, if that's what you're asking, there's nothing wrong with cosplay from a hentai series. As long as the costume covers everything it needs to. You're right, sometimes hentai costumes do cover more then your standard anime costumes. :)

However, the only thing you might need to worry about is scary fanboys/girls who all of a sudden decide they are your "best friend" because you are from a hentai they love. 8-O

Heh, I say go for it too. ^^ A friend of mine cosplayed from Bible Black (a semi well-known hentai) at Katsucon this year. And her outfit was not skimpy at all and definently covered a lot more than a lot of the mainstream anime girls. So I agree with that statement. And if people at cons condemn you by pointing out that you're cosplaying from hentai without you even having to tell them, then just ask them how they know you're from a hentai. Since they must have a bit of knowledge about it if they recognized it, possibly meaning they themselves have seen it and have no right to say anything about you. ^^

I say go for it, someof the hentai outfits look awesome without being as fan servicey as anime. Most you couldn't tell were hentai till , you know so those that do know who your dressed as should appreciate that you are doing another side of the japanese styles of entertainment

I've cosplayed characters from hentai before, so obviously I don't think there is anything wrong with it- they have "adult" showings at a lot of conventions, so I don't think it's out of place. That said, I do think you need to realize the implications of dressing up like a hentai character- namely that female characters in most Japanese pornographic plots tend to be there for the sole purpose of being taken advantage of. So chances are, if you're dressing as one of these characters, you are, in a way, presenting yourself to be taken advantage of, and you're likely to get unsavory reactions from fanboys. But that happens in a lot of non-hentai outfits too, so personally I think its just part and parcel of putting yourself on display like that.
