When doing a sailor moon costumes why do people always seem to use satin and make really humongous bows? I mean no offense but I think it looks pretty tacky.
Now I am planning to do a sailor costume in the future and I'd like as much input as possible. I'm planning on using Kona cotton for the skirt and collar and probably a knit or crepe for the body suit portion. As for the bows I think I will actually use satin (because the bows are so shiny) but I like the manga bows better so I plan to use some craft fuse so I can get them into that funky little shape and have the stay put. What do you experts think? I also want to know: what was the best sailor costume you have seen? |

Lot's of people use a white skating outfit-type for the body of the costume, but I saw a sailor mercury *which I'll be making later* that used a white cotton fabric, and made more of a corset type body. It looked pretty comfortable and different.
