Changing your voice?

Hello All!

I wonder if anyone knows about a good voice changer to sound like a character, and what I mean by that is its not a alien, robotic, or eerie voice. For instance, I'm cosplaying as Sora from Kingdom Hearts, and I want to have some voice files to make my cosplay a little more interesting! I'm not specifically looking for a real time voice changer, but perhaps one that may use WAV. files so then I can just sample out some voice clips. I've looked around but it seems like most videos resort to basic monster sounds or whatever.

Thanks in advance!

These exist, but you have to kind of make it yourself. My friend made a soundbox for PAX that had quotes from multiple characters, and hooked it up to a small speaker/mic. He's pretty technologically savvy so he was able to whip it up in a few days (once the parts came in) but I'm not sure if I'd be able to. I believe he used something from Adafruit and a speaker. The clips I think he just found online or edited himself. I don't know much about the process myself but hopefully this at least helps get you started down researching the correct stuff.

This is the real time voice changer tutorial with links on what to get, which might be an eventual upgrade from what you are trying to do.

Also something I'm interested in doing myself at some point.

Thank you so much!
It looks pretty interesting, and yep, very technical, but I'll definitely look much more into it.

P.S.By chance, does your friend have a Cosplay.com account? If not, it's fine. I just had a few questions about it.

You're welcome! Both of those are very technical and I can honestly say the tutorial gave me a bit of a headache. Right now I'm just focusing on my costume and recommend you do the same. Maybe next year when I have the costume I'll try and make this.

(Pressed post too early, dang phone. It's so hard being new that I can't edit after my posts are up and they don't go up immediately.

Mods: Previous version of this post was posted too early accidentally)

Oh, no problem! Regardless of that, I fully agree.
I am thinking about doing the same. It's really a bit too much, since I'm not familiar with programming. I actually might just get my recordings and just press the recording from my phone. Tacky, but it's all about fun!

The trick would be hiding your phone when you do it. There's a couple of apps that can be set up in a cause and effect way. Maybe have a Bluetooth and say play track 1? Google and Siri can probably do it if it's not too complicated, but an app might work better if you're using a Playlist. I haven't experimented with Google that much yet and don't know if it can interact with a Playlist like that

Actually, I'll just try this instead! I'm sure there's an app for that can do that pretty easily and efficiently! Thanks. If anything, I do have few month to test it out, but if you want, I'll let you know how it turns out. Or you'll probably do it on your own 😅 Either way, smart idea!

Happy to help. Just happened to have an idea. You might need to stash a speaker somewhere as well and set it as output. Play around and see what you come up with and yes please update here on how you're progressing when you get something working

Not sure if you remember this post, but I didn't get to try the voice changer since my costume was the most painful thing of my con :/

Made completely of foam...it got too hot in there and my commissioner didn't give me any pockets
