Exclamation Davy Jones Jacket Help

Hey guys...so i've got the jacket made up how i wanted....now to weather it! Any ideas or suggestions to get it more "been underwater for years" looking? I've already got the latex barnacles and mussels. I need to find some seaweed and some starfish. Was going to try some small shells.

1. Suggestions on Glue for Latex to denim.
2. distressing suggestions
3. maybe lacquer to make it harder and not so flimsy for the latex pieces?
4. Shiny coat to make it look wet?

Any suggestions would be helpful, this is my first time doing this!!

BTW what do you think of the jacket???

Thank you!

It looks AWESOME! And so great that you're cosplaying Jonesy!
Thistothat.com suggests Barge. Probably regular fabric glue would work for the smaller ones, too.
"distressing suggestions" hehe. You'll need to shred the bottom hem- I suggest hacking it into the jagged shape his has with scissors first, then sandpapering the edges.
Over the entire coat, water down some acrylic paint in dark muddy green and slosh it over to dull down the gold trim and make the whole thing look blotchy and like it's been underwater for 200 years. You don't want barnacles on a pristine coat.
I don't think you need lacquer, and that might just make the barnacles harder to stick. You could experiment with dripping some on for effect, though.
I don't know what you could do for a wet look that would still be flexible. A little gloss medium, maybe?
Next con: NYCC2018 as Asajj Ventress, with my brother as Darth Maul!
