Talking World of Warcraft Armor

Hey you guys!!

I'll be starting on my first armors real soon, first an easier one and the second one will be a real challenge.. That's where you guys come in!!

I would like to make a Varian Wyrnn armor, while the chestpiece etc isn't that hard.. The pauldrons are and I could use some suggestion on how to tackle them.

This is what I'll need

Thanks in advance for your help!!

What materials are you familiar with? what kind of equipment do you have?

In all honestly there is easily ten or more different ways to get that armor built, but the 'right' method is the one you can do well. Practicing on something more simple is an excellent plan. And practice, practice, practice.

My Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/penlowe I make non-fitted custom things to ship within the continental US. I only do fitted garments for those whom I can meet in person.

At this point only EVA foam but I have no idea how to even start patterning this to make in foam..
I was thinking of trying to find a pepakura file with a griffon/eagle head but so far no luck with that

I wanted to hear some ideas about how other people would do this to see if I could go those routes I'm always willing to learn

For the eagle pauldrons, I would probably do layered insulation foam for the eagle head, carve it by hand, coat with paper mache, then build up details with paperclay or some other modeling compound.

Your first order of business, though, will be to research and design your support structure and harness. How are you gonna get the pauldrons to stay on your shoulders without severely restricting your movement? You can't just safety-pin them to a shirt sleeve.

Nylon or cotton webbing (straps) and heavy-duty snaps are pretty useful for this kind of thing.
