Would you think me odd if I wanted to cos-play as Chun Li?

Hi all,

I got to think of cross-play that would be fun to do and I have always been a Chun Li player in the SF games and I got to thinking what the general response would be if I cos-played Chun Li... what would you think if you saw a 338 pound guy as Chun Li but in character and having fun?

Make up takes well to me and finding a wig and putting the buns on it would be easy.

The Chun Li costume is too hard for my current sewing skills and I'd do it when I lose some weight but I could pay a person well to make me a costume when I get a job and have funds.

I wouldn't commission it til like July next year.

Well, what do you guys think?

FRom,
Joe

I bet you would make a better Chun Li than I would@ I was thinking of doing her as well in a diff. color variation, but I would not do the costume justice, my thighs cannot compare to hers lmao

I say go for it, as long as you have fun, more power to ya!

Go for it Joe! If you dig the character and enjoy yourself, it's fair game.

yeah, if you really want it, then go for it. I remember this Jackie Chan movie when he cross dressed as Chun Li (he looked cute in it. lol). I think the title is City Hunter. There's a bit there where he was fighting as a street fighter character. ^_^

For the love of god, NO!

That's my first thought and opinion.. just being honest.

ara, not as scary as Mai would be though (j/k for any crossplayers thinking of doing Mai) ^__^ . I say go for it! I personally don't see anything wrong with a male doing Mai

Hmm... while I don't like discussing whether a costume would fit a person or not I will say this much: before you decide to do it, take a minute to think about whether or not you are prepared to endure the negative reactions that the costume will attrack from congoers. (Look at all the people who were poking fun at male Fayes and male Sailor Scouts on this forum alone...)

From what I have seen, crossplaying males get a lot of criticism, especially if they can't fool people walking by into thinking they are a girl. And Chun-Li being such an icon to video game fans everywhere...

I'd say proceed with caution. X__X

Lol, that is a pretty good Mai...actually, guys would have an easier time pulling it off because they wouldn't have to worry about exposing too much of their chest =P

I've been fooled every once in a while by a crossplayer. If you can pull it off then I guess do it. But at 338lbs? Sorry, but I don't think there is any male let alone female character you could pull of convincingly. I'm not saying you shouldn't cosplay but be careful who you cosplay as. Also make sure you're doing for the right reason. If you like the character, want to get the weirdest looks you've ever seen and be made fun of then by all means proceed. If you're just doing it for attention like that horrible Faye Valentine crossplayer than please, don't do it.
