FFVIII-Rinoas Ballroom Dress

^^ Hello everyone! I just need your opinion about her dress, because im gonna make it for the Final Fantasy Ball this year....its just about the sheer part.

Im not really sure if its only at teh bottom, over her dress, or under it. What do you all think?

^^ i like a bunch of different views! So feel free to give any ideas!

I always thought it was over and that is how I made mine. It looks like that by the way Rinoa is dancing in that ballroom scene. Although in-game in looks like it's under?

It's over it. I know because that's how dresses with sheer layers are always made. Usually the under layer is a lining fabric that's sewn like an underlining with the sheer fabric, meaning you baste the two layers together after you cut them out, then sew them as one piece. To make Rinoa's dress, just make the sheer layer longer and hem it separately. I would suggest doing a rolled hem aka handkerchief hem by hand on both layers. Also, even though synthetics are typically used for that type of dress, I would strongly suggest making the under layer out of cotton or muslin instead. It's a zillion times easier to work with and more washable that way.

I just bought an organza layer and sewed it on mine. Sure sure, it may not be completely like the original design, but it is a pretty personal touch. I could not figure out how to do the chiffon at the bottom at all. It would be hard to do two layers with that dress' design. Not to mention hemming the chiffon.

That's why I specified about basting it. You work with it like it's one layer.
