I used the same pattern as Selphie_Fairy (she's MY chibi ^_^ lol). But yeah, it's a very goog pattern. The only probmlems I fing with it is the collor is more rounded than a V, but this can be easily fixed, and the waist's V should be pulled down farther. Also http://www.moonprism.com/cosplay has very good metal tiaras.

I was just thinking about the skirts, and I have to agree, some of the SM Cosplay's I've seen, they just don't look right with the pleats...Anyway, I was looking at a picture from the Manga, they do indeed look ruffly to me. Easy solution , well maybe, Try running three lines of stitching around the top before you hem it or add a waist band, make it really loose so you can pull it slightly, gathering the top, it will ruffle the bottom for you and you can control how full or not you want it to be. not sure if this makes much sense though...

I am on the same boat as Avian and Selphie. Some modifications have been made after the fact though. Metal tiaras are the way to go though! In my opinion, they look more like the real tiaras. As for pleats, go about that with caution. NEVER do the sharp pleats since they are all WRONG! Just a little word of advice....

I recommend www.dance4less.com for leotards -- I bought one for <$20, which is about what it would have cost me to make it myself (minus the frustration of working with lycra ^_^V)

Ah, a more recent thread on Sailor Moon cosplay =^_^= I'm thinking more and more about it ever since I found the perfect gloves (for only 99 cents!) for the Sailor Neptune costume I plan to do :3 (not sure whether I want to do regular Neptune or Super Sailor Neptune....I'm kinda leaning toward regular Neptune...). I'll probably take the advice of getting a leotard instead of messing with making one.....=^^=;; I'm enough of a sewing newbie that I'd probably end up spending the same amount trying to get it right sewing it myself.......Now I just need to match the leotard with the gloves somewhat effectively.....
senshi_meiousei -- what do you mean the "sharp pleats" are wrong? If you are talking about stiff pleats versus ruffles, then that depends greatly on whether you're doing manga-style or anime-style (and since I'm doing anime-style, I want really stiff, defined pleats). Speaking of stuff that bothers a person, I suggest NOT using uber-shiny/sparkly fabric for the skirt, etc....=-_-=;; It just looks funny, and not very accurate.... That's all for now :3 |

I noticed that a lot of people have done Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi, but has anyone seen any of the SuperSailor Moon cosplay? Considering this is my first handmade cosplay, I'd like to get an idea of what others have done for this costume to get an idea of what does and doesn't work.
For Example: I cosplayed as Kagome for Anime Expo 04, and although I did see a few other Kagome's I noticed I was the only one that actually carried a bow and quiver of arrows. I have to admit the extra bucks to shell out these accessories was worth not being labeled as another japanese school girl. |

If you are talking about the forms of Usagi, I think it's somewhat true that you don't see her Super Sailor Moon oufit cosplayed as much as the other forms^^

Arin -- Usually when I want to see what others have done, I search through the photo gallery (both here, and Cosplaylab.com) to get ideas, and to see what looks good and what doesn't.

I'm curious about what senshi_meiousei means by the 'sharp pleats' as well.
My Saturn costume (unless I decide on Eternal, which is not likely) is going to be from the anime as well, and as such, I will need them knife pleats. As for the super sailor form of Moon, check out sailor-moon's profile here on cosplay.com. She's done every single one of Moon's forms. |

Ok, I attached some pics for reference...
I am an insane perfectionist, so I want to get Neppy as accurate as possible.....and I noticed that the senshi's skirts, more or less, have a tendency to defy gravity (refer to pics to see what I'm talking about :P). So....I was wondering what the best way to achieve this would be, whether it can be achieved through using interfacing, or a hell of a lot of starch :P Or maybe even a stiffer fabric.... But the last thing I want is a limp skirt (like too many others I've seen....) |

Jen-neko, you might want to get cheap material and experiment with that. I have some ideas:
1. Notice how the individual pleats get shorter as you get closer to the top? Try "V"-ing the skirt itself before you put pleats in. 2. Coat hangers solve EVERYTHING, I tell you! *evil laugh* If all else fails, hot glue (or some other sort of bonding method) bent coathangers to the topmost pleat and see what happens. |

Hmmm.....*nodnod* I see what you mean. I shall have to try that, then =^_^=
P.S. I did notice the pleats got shorter as they got higher up :3 most people don't seem to notice (or don't know how to alter the skirt so it does that...:P I'm not exactly sure I know how to =^^=;; but I'll experiment....) |
