Those underrated Gem of Gems
We have the most overrated games, but what games do you think aren't recognized enough?
They're all out there, those games that you LOVE so much, but they never got that much hype and you wish that more people would open their minds and play it! It's kinda sad when you play a game, love it, and tell your gaming friends, and they're like "What?!" At the moment, my favorite underrated game is Ico. Personally, I think it was an absolutely beautiful and heartfelt game with really unique gameplay. I think the hideous boxart was to blame >_< I'm sure if they had kept the Japanese boxart, it might have been a little more successful? So people, what do you think? |

IQ- this addicting little puzzle game for the PSX. I've wasted so many hours defeating that game. It's simplistic but can also be very difficult, has excellent music, and the graphics are adequate given the premise. Somehow, practically no one I've ever met has played it! I don't think it was advertised much (at all??) when it first came out- I only knew about it thanks to a demo disc with some magazine I bought.
Besides that, the original Suikoden. Practically everyone who's played it knows what a fabulous game it was, but so few people have played it! ^^ Hopefully, Suikoden 3 will revive interest in the older games. |

Anachronox. Of course, I'm biased cuz I worked on it, but it truly was like Final Fantasy meets Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Eidos just let that sucker be dead on arrival. Worthless morons won't invest publicity in anything that isn't TOMB RAIDER. |

Legend of Dragoon
I got addicted from a demo disc then I couldn't find it for months! Okay so the graphics aren't as good as lets say FF, but the story is so cool.

Dewprism, also known as Threads of Fate. Okage was also a very good game that deserves more credit.

I have to question some of your list, Joe, because some of those games WERE widely appreciated back in the day. Which sports fan doesn't talk about Tecmo Bowl?

Maybe not in this circle of gamers but Xenogears wasn't appreciated by the gaming community as a whole.
And Rez for the PS2. |

I mentioned Tecmo Bowl and the others because no one mentions them these days and are still great games.
The only footbal game I like is Tecmo Bowl. The only racing game I like is RC Pro AM. Star Tropics is pretty much a forgotton game as is Crystalis. Raphsody is looked down by most RPGers. Puyo Puyo has a small but loyal fanbase. 99% of gamers never played Bonk and the TG-16 and Turbo Duo these days are very rare. Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is the truist definition of a PC RPG in my eyes. But the series is barely played. FRom, Joe
