Teeny Tiny Top Hats
I can't seem to find a place to buy teeny tiny top hats. If anyone knows of a place or how to make them it would be of great help.

Hi , well if you wana make one you could try this . you can add and remove the frill depending on how you want it . This is what it looks like : http://www.honnou.com/stuff/hat.jpg And this is the instructions on how to do it , its in Japanese , but if you know even a lill about sewing the pictures should be self-explanatory =D http://www.honnou.com/stuff/hat2.jpg |

i use the same foam boards i got for my chii cosplay in black. you can just cut the shape of a cylinder and a circle for the top. the all around visor is a bit more difficult. i used a bigger circle and measured it until i fount the exact middle, then i used my cylinder (the top hat) to cut out the hole in the middle. glue it all and frill it up.

this was my first. i know it looks weird but i wanted to show you the simple one (without all of the lace and chains). and if you want to paint it, you can use spray paint, it doesn't ruin the foam paper.

Depends on how small you want them. Check out the doll section of you local craft/sewing store. I saw some at a local Rag Shop and thought they would be cute for gothic lolita oufits.

I used that pattern to make a mini hat. Mine had a few small changes to the construction... Since I wanted my hat to have a much stiffer and crisper look than they usually do and I was using a thin satin jacquard for the outer fabric, I used a super-stiff fusible interfacing that I got at Okadaya in Tokyo. (I later tried to buy that kind of interfacing at Jo-Ann and had NO luck. They didn't have anything even remotely close to that level of stiffness.) I cut the interfacing without seam allowances so that the seams would be flexible.
I found it a pretty easy project, although since I'm not an expert seamstress I had to make use of the Japanese instructions translating as best I could. Still, I think it turned out okay... wow! inertia, you are unbelievably talented! i didn't have any fabrics or anything to put on this one. but yours is great!
i think that the best bet you have is to make it yourself, CuteButDeadly...because you get to learn and customize it. if you look around in stores you might find something close to what you want, but will you be happy with knowing you could have made it better, instead of making it in the first place? it's your call. but i think you'r best result will come from you, not the store. good luck.

While I'm all about making your own my first one I got at Build a Bear, thier magician hats are the perfect size and in black velvet. I was rather surprised at the quality for a simple teddy bear accsessory.

you know what else i find to be a pain in the butt to find? the baby crowns. but not the ones like one made out of beads and wire like i have seen here (although that one was cute), i mean the ones that look like queen victoria's little crown. i have been trying to perfect it cause i can't seem to find them in either the right size, or the right colors, or the right weight (who wants a block of clay on their head?)
