I can't imagine wearing this to a convention, not in the hall at least. Considering the amount of work that would be neseccary to pull of this outfit, it certainly wouldn't be worth getting it trampled, tugged, jostled, and inevitably broken by a crowd. (The extend of some con-goers' rudeness baffles me...) But I think it would be a very dramatic masquerade outfit!
This is one of the only Florla Fallal cosplys I've found:
0_o Looks to me like it involved a LOT of wire and maybe some suspension string, and I have NO idea how she supported all of that weight. I know that some cosplayers on this board supported their very heavy angel wings by using metal rods to support them, then welding the rods to a metal plate, which was strapped into a corset and laced onto their backs. Whew. I won't be attempting this anytime soon.
For those of you who are, though, It's probably a good idea to use a lightweight lycra for the whole thing. The fabric will stretch around your body and around wire frames for the "petals." The actual dress is pretty revealing... it might be a good idea to sew the dress part of the costume onto a skin-toned bodysuit underneath. A lot of people seem to shy away from bodysuits because they don't look realistic, but Lindze of lindze.com makes hers look fabulous by airbrushing realistic shadows onto hers.
I'd love to see some hardcore attempts at this costume... If you're planning on it, keep us posted!
