How in the world do I pull this one off? XD ("Healed" Sailor Galaxia)

Okay. Rather than starting too late like my current costume lol, next year for AM '05 I will be the Healed version of Galaxia from Sailor Moon: STARS

Well...only thing is...have you seen her hair?! x_X;; I requested a quote from Katie Blair's shop but I havent gotten it yet. Just incase I can't buy it though x_X How would I go about making her hair? I dont want it to be AS long...but still VERY long...and what about the colors???

Perhaps you couls use two medium-long wigs? (for the color change effect)

It might be tricky, but you would have to attatch the second wig onto the back of the first one somehow...

Well I could always get one of those real long ones from Witch Wigs but are you able to dye wigs like regular hair o-o;

Katie Bair sells spray-in wig dye. Judging from the gradation in the wig, spray would be your best bet. You can not dye synthetic wigs like human hair as far as I know. Another option is sharpee markers, but that is pretty painstaking.
http://store.wowwigs.com/la3000showgirl.html has a very pretty and color-diverse showgirl wig for not a whole lot of dough. It's very pretty and long.

you can always try colored extentions and attatch them to the back of the wig. it'll also add length. if you layer and cut them right too it'll add the gradiation.

All of the above solutions are extremely helpful! Another suggestion would be the more primordial, yet trusted method of purchasing a long, wavy wig in blonde or gold for the top of her hair, then coloring the ends with orange, then red sharpies (water can be rubbed between to blend and dillute slightly...)
Manic Panic color dyes can also be brushed into the wigs (like the sharpies, orange, then red) to create the shift in color.

And the judges will reply, 'SCORPIONS, YOU SAY? HAVE A TROPHY.'
Victory will be mine."

Oh I'm so happy I've come across this topic!! I'm making Healed Galaxia too, hehe!
I'm thinking about buying Katie Bair's wig die (in cherry red) and buying the Enchantment wig in Gold Coin from Amphigory http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_enchantment.html

My friend requested a quote from someone, I believe Katie Bair, and it was like, $200-$300.

A Showgirl or Enchantment wig would work beautifully, then just apply wig dye, as others have said. ^_^

It may be best to use both techniques at once to create the fullness necessary for Galaxia. I would add in a bunch of red extensions to the bottom of a gold coin enchantment wig, and then do the dying in-between and at the ends of the gold part a bit to make the transition. The extensions should fall about 10-15 inches longer than the wig, depending on how close you heat seal them into the bottom band. You're going to have to add multiple wefts along with sewing a full line into the bottom band of the wig, though. I agree, the wig would be about 200 dollars even for me to make, and I tend to be a good deal cheaper than Katie, as a rule.

I think it's awesome that you're doing this cosplay, though. I've always wanted to see somebody do it. Are you going to have her star crystal?

I would suggest getting a long wig (Enchangment from Amphigory would be good) in a gold color. If you aren't wanting it AS long as Galaxia's, I would suggest using either a maroon or a berry colored Sharpie and color the bottom part (not counting the 3-4 inches where the gradiation would be) and then use a low-percentage rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to stroke the sharpie color up into the wig, blending them.

It'll give you a better gradient from one color to the next, and make it look more natural than extensions. It'll also give you more control of just how dark the reddish part of the wig comes out as opposed to using pre-colored extensions. Just make sure you rinse it REALLY REALLY well in cold water until it runs clear.

While the Enchantment wig is VERY long (it reaches past my butt and I'm 5'10!), have you ever tried to curl one before? NOT FUN. I'd reccomend a showgirl wig. I'm guessing it would take color like an Amphigory wig, but I can't make any promises.

Since I love Ebay for showgirl wigs, and I enjoy finding them as well, here are a few links:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll... 999&tc=photo Not quite as golden as Galaxia's, but the layered look would work well for Galaxia (and if your wig is super long, the more layers, the less chance of it getting tangled).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll... 657&tc=photo This wig is platinum, which means you could dye it with supplies from Katie Bair. I thought the style was quite perfect. I would also recommend checking out the rest of the XXXLong wigs in Karen's Ebay Store. Quite a good selection.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll... 421&tc=photo Yet another candidate. I just love Ebay. :3
