Spandex
I have a few questions regarding it:
About how much does it cost per yard/metre? Do you need a special sewing machine, such as a serger, to sew it? Is it see-through? Does it come in more colours than white? |

It's kind of see through, but not really. It's quite expensive, in Canada it is $19 a meter, I heard it was 7 a yard. I don't believe you need a special sewing machine to sew it, and it does come in more colours than white ^___^

When it comes to sewing spandex, all you need on your sewing maching (for the most part) is some kind of zigzag stitch, or even a stitch labled specifially for stretch materials (I've seen it on other machines before). the reson for that is that if you were to just straight stitch spandex (just a single straight line of stitching, for anyone who doesn't understand) the moment you start to stretch it the stitching will start to pop and come out. The zigzag stitch will stretch and move with your fabric.
Using a serger is also recomended when using stretch fabrics, but as long as you have a zigzag stich you should be fine. ^_^ And it comes in almost every colour of the rainbow, but I'm not certain on pricing.

19$ a METRE??? WTF!!
That explains why alot of people use lycra/nylon instead. . .O.O And sadly enough, my cheap-arse sewing machine is rather simple, but it would cost a fortune to get my mom's super old, super useful one fixed. |

Shop around, I'm sure you could get it cheaper somewhere, especially if you check out privatly owned fabric stores near you.

I'm using liquid lame, and it's the devil. It's harder (for me) to deal with than spandex.
Errr... anyway, I found a place with a good quality spandex for an amazingly low price. It was like $8.50 per yard, but I forgot where I purchased it from. I'll try to find it again.I can't find the link, but here's an alternative: http://www.spandexhouse.com/spandex.htm
