Sword rules at DC

Does anyone know the regulations on swords and stuff for DC? I am planning to do Auron and want to make sure I can bring my sword in.
Mucho Thank you-o's,
The Doc

There is no rule for bring fake replica just as long as you don't hurn anyone. Dragon con is a great con to bring props and besides jsut as long as it it sfake and it won't hurt anyone it's perfectly O'K. By the way I am sooooo physed that you are coming as Auron more Final Fantasy cosplay the better!!!!

Auron's sword will be fine to carry around. What D*C worries about is the things that look real or are real like airsoft guns or rapiers. Airsoft weapons aren't allowed at all, other guns must have the orange tip, and all blades must be peacebonded.

You should have no problems at all

BTW I <3 Auron

If you're really concerned about whether or not it would fly you can always check with the head of security. You can find his email on the dragon*con site and all under the contact page. I usually work security and we've always been pretty good about what weapons are good to go and stuff. But if you ever have a question the Security Director is a good guy and the one to ask.

Squee for Auron though! I hope I get to see.

Yeah, it'll be fine. I've seen people with real sai and even people with their swords (real swords) out (but only during photos). D*C is much better as far as props are concerned. I guess it's because most of their attendees are older than anime con's attendees, and therefore presumed responsible enough not to stab somebody...?

I have commonly known dragon Con staff to require weapons to be peace bonded atleast. My recommendation is do not unsheath live steel at all at the con. I have heard that they may be tightening security up. I have heard this from the 501st which I belong to as well and know that there is concern over trooper blasters this year. So again use your better judgement with what you have with you. There is not any reason you should do anything to get kicked out of the con and if staff asks you to put something away I would do so, but be polite as this con is just starting to regain Cosplayers from the Anime end of things again and I would hate to see it go away because of problems.

I'm still debating if I'm going to bring Hibiki, and if I do, I'll probably bring my sword-cane with me. Obviously I don't intend to unsheath it while walking around, and I also will use clear duct-tape around the area where the blade comes out, so that you can't pull it out. That should be acceptable, ya?

It's going to be either a toss-up between Hibiki or one costume that I haven't worn in a while.. Saitou Hajime.. If I cosplay as him, I'll be bringing my wooden bokken that I painted the length of the sword silver (since 2002) and that would be acceptable as well, yesh?

Just trying to decide.. I've got a week or so left to determine which one to bring: go with a good (girl) samurai or go with an evil (but not too evil) former shinsengumi captain turned policeman.. hehe

EBK: I think that should suffice on both. If con Staff have a problem with it they will be polite about things. Normally when they requie a piece bond they will just attach some orange tape to the item.

I am just going off of different things I have seen in the past. go to the official web site for what they want to have done. I do know that dragon Con last year had no problems with weapons as long as they were not missued in anyway.
