There was an official Squall outfit made
In light of some people questioning the authenticity of other Squall jackets, here is the official one that has appeared on ebay.

if that was an XL I'd be all over it, but oh well. and I already have a squall outfit of my own. I remember seeing those WAY back and those items were super expensive and Squall's 925 Silver Ring is still $$$

Wow. The jacket (dunno if the pants are included in the price) was originally about $880. o.O Crazy.
And yes, the FF stuff is still really expensive, even in Japan. Lots of things are expensive in Japan - it's got a totally mixed up economy (I'm not an econ major, this is just my opinion).
