Sango kimono

I am trying for the first time to sew a costume for a con next year. I plan on doing interactive cosplay and I want to make the outfit. I can't seem to find a pattern though for the kimono that sango wears, and the ones you can buy just don't seem to be up to par with what they could be. Any help would be great.

Simplicity has a kimono offering in their costume section. And Folkwear.com also has one.

Kimono are also easy to sew without a pattern--they're just a series of rectangles. Google "how to make a kimono" for lots of different guides, and once you look at a couple of them you'll see what I mean.

That said, there are different types of kimono and Sango's could be historical or could have weird anime things happening. Mind showing us which Sango and which kimono you're talking about?

I'm assuming you're talking about Sango from Inuyasha... That's the only Sango I know who wears a kimono. The kimono looks fairly simple, the sleeves might be hard, but I'm sure you'll find tutorials on how to make one like hers/similar to hers. Like Mangochutney said, you probably won't need a pattern.

This is a close option but like i said i would love to try to make it. I am a beginner at sewing that's why i was wondering where a pattern could be found.

What I would do is make the kimono out of cheap muslin first and sketch out the magenta color blocks. Then cut them out and use the muslin mock-up as your pattern (make sure to add a seam allowance where you sketched out the blocks).

Alright that sounds like it might work. What fabric would be dest for final product? I want something that will be comfortable to wear.

Depends on whether you want historical accuracy or not. If you want to make it like a feudal-era kimono, you'll want linen. If you don't care (or just want it done more cheaply), broadcloth will work.
