Anyway, my search for fabric still continues. I called the fabric store (nobody felt like driving an hour to go there) to see if they had any papillon cotton. Turns out they don't, so now I have to do some searching online. Does anybody know of any sites that might sell it or any other fabric I could use? A friend sent me this link, but I'm not too sure.

I think a polyester fabric could be better. You don't happen to have any fabric stores closer than that? It's always best to actually touch the fabric before buying it.
You could try calling the fabric store and ask them for a white fabric that is going to be used for wide, poofy pants.

It doesn't have to be papillon cotton, that's just what mine happened to be called. I would recommend cotton over polyester, because it'll breathe better and Sesshomaru can be a hot costume to wear.

My cotton is called papillon (pronounced pap-EE-on, it's French for butterfly) because it's stiff but soft, so ask for a stiff cotton that will hold the shape of the poofy pants.

Brainshake and tunesonatuesday: Thanks guys. I'll see what I can find whenever I find the time to go look. I guess in the meantime, I can start working on Tenseiga and Tokijin.

I won't be doing much Miroku or Sango work for a while, because I need to get to work on finishing Kotoko and Sumomo now that xmas is over.

I haven't even started work on Kenshin and Kaoru, but I can whip out a kimono in an afternoon now. It's going to be a pain making Kaoru's obi. I have to paint stripes on it -is shot-

Miroku and Sango are planned for 2012, so likely whenever I have free time, or get sick of working on other costumes, I'll do little bits for them here and there.

I'm sewing on the last two squares on my Nobunaga hakama right now, after that it's time to sew together the pieces so they actually look like pants...

Did you use a pattern for your hakama? I need to make a pair for Kenshin and I'm not sure which pattern to use. I've found a couple but I haven't quite decided yet. I think I might make some mini-versions, like doll-sized, to decide which ones I like more.

Actually I mostly used my kendo hakama as a reference and then my mother happened to have a pattern for some kinda old-school super broad/big/whatever pants, with some pleats, that looked closely enough so we could modify them into hakama. We just compared the pattern with my actual hakama and we found out that the pattern was a very similar match and good to use... just need to add the ties, koshiita, make more pleats and those openings in the sides.
Go sewing-mothers! xD

My mother used to do tons of sewing, and cross-stitching and embroidery, so she's giving me cases upon cases of embroidery thread to pimp out the kimono I'm making.

I think I've found a pattern that looks pretty accurate, so I think I'll go with that one. Thankfully, mine don't have anything fancy on them so once I get the fabric I should be able to whip them out in about a day.

Aren't they!?
My friend and I were ruffling through the rack, looking for things that might work for Miroku and Kenshin, and at first I was going to go with these Pac-man ones that said Eat Me, or ones with Brian on them saying Don't make me beg, but then she found these and I died.

They're ACDC boxers, so at first we dismissed them because they had lame ACDC stuff on the front, then she noticed this on the butt and I was no good.

I might have to get a compression shirt so I can put on a tank top and sport these babies for bedtime.
