Harry Potter Cosplay Guide :D Robes, Wands, and More...

I've noticed that lots of people having been asking about Harry Potter costume pieces and whatnot, so I've decided to make a reference page for all of the Harry Potter stuff you can get, and where to buy it :3 (Excuse me if this has already been created, or this is not the right place for it D: )

There are several places that you can buy the robes, PS/CoS or PoA. This is probably the most expensive part of the costume if you buy it, or it can cost much less if you make it yourself

Wizarding School Robes
PS/CoS - $100
PoA - $100

Lituus Wizard Equiptment
(School Robes)
PoA - $100

Garb The World
PS/CoS - $50

Genki Gang
(Store, Mad Props)
PS/CoS - $82

PS/CoS - $90

Black Cat Robes
PS/CoS/PoA - $38 - $80

Twin Rose Designs
PoA - $160

There are also several placed they you can get Quidditch robes, though, as they are less common, they are harder to find, and sometimes more expensive.

Wizarding School Robes
PS/CoS - $100

Lituus Wizarding Equiptment
(Wizard Sports Gear)
PS/CoS - $100
PoA - $120

The Pitch
PS/CoS - $80 - $110

YUS. The tie; one of the most important parts of the costume. If you don't have it, random people with come up and ask you "WHYTHEHELLYOUWEARINGAROBEYOUFREAK??! OMGSATANSPAWN!!1"

Wizard Ties
PoA - $22

Lituus Wizarding Equiptment
(School Ties)
PoA - $20

The Wizard Wear Shoppe
PS/CoS - $3.50

HP Wizard Store
PS/CoS/PoA - $22

PS/CoS - $24.99
PoA - $24.99

Not exactly necessary, but a good things to have. They are knitted long-sleeve v-neck sweaters with the house colours on the end of the sleeves and around the bottom of the ribbing.

Hobbie's House of Wizard Wear
PS/CoS - $25 - $55
Hobbies House of Wizard Wear
PoA - $35 - $70

HP Wizard Store
PS/CoS - $35

RJK Knits
PoA - ???

The PoA skirt is a charcoal-grey wrap with two front pleats. The PS/CoS skirt is a lighter grey with knife pleats. The pants, same colour as the skirt for each movie. They are easier to find than the skirt, so I thought I'd just post this.

Buckhead Uniforms
PoA - $30.60 (Dye "charcoal grey" 2x with black Rit to get the correct colour)

French Toast
PoA - $11.98

Wand is one of the easiest things you can get; they are everwhere. The trick, though, is to finding the styles used in Harry Potter films.

PS/CoS - $35 - $65

Whirlwood Wands
PS/CoS - $49 - $64

The Wand Shop
PS/CoS - $22.50 - $26.50

Noble Collection
PoA - $29.50

Though only seen during winter time at Hogwarts, it's a nice, cozy add-on to any Harry Potter costume :3

Whimsy Wearables
PS/CoS/PoA - $20

PS/CoS - $60 - $75
PoA - $70 - $80

PS/CoS/PoA - $15.99

I know it's been a WHILE since people have posted on this thread, but people may come and look at it so..... I do custom props, like wands. I can do just about anything with my lathe. prices go anywhere from twenty dollars to sixty depending on the 1:type of wood 2: level of difficulty involved. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Newpor...6154298?ref=nf

Can try this page for one of the tutorials for a School Robe.

Down a bit down the page will be the other Robe Patterns that can be used while near the bottom of the page are links to other tutorials.

Btw, will GREATLY APPRECIATE it if someone can point me to the LJ entry of myfortunatestars/PROPOGANDA_LIVE/snoble9369 where she posted the tutorial on how she did her School Robe with photos of the completed item. I lost the link and the saved page is in my "spoil" Portable External Harddisk.

50 Attack on Titan Cosplans,
a few (Saint Seiya) Episode G: Assassin Casual Outfits,
and a Brand New Star Wars Biker Scout Armor!

I bought my PoA robe from Mooney Couture. A PoA style robe cost 105$, and she'll add the patch for another 5$. I'm really excited; the owner is really freindly and helpful especially since I've never requested a commision before!

I ordered my wand from the Muggle Wandmaker and not only was it not all that expensive, but you can pretty much design your own if you want, from the type of wood(s) to the shape and length of the wand. He's been great to work with.

Does anyone know of a new place to buy the POA style skirt, since the links no longer work?

I found some things that I thought might be of interest:

1) Sweaters:

Apparently it's the same company who made the ones from the movies. I've also read that they're better made and more comfortable than the whimsically ones.

2) Skirts:
http://www.americanapparel.com/rsavt300.html?cid=151# (only comes in sizes up to medium, yuck)

I think this might be of interest:

Most of the cloaks there are velvet with a faux satin lining. The material is a muted (not shiny and horrible) colour and thick enough to wear in cooler temperatures.

The sizing can be difficult to understand, however, I'm 5'10" and I ordered an XL which hangs around my ankles. So the XXL would probably be just on the floor for me, but would swamp anyone shorter.

The shipping time is outrageously fast (less than a week for me!), so if you need a cloak quickly then I really recommend them.
