The Key Blade (Kingdom Hearts)

Hey. I need some advice on how to make Sora's Key Blade from Kingdom Hearts. I've never made a prop before and I want it to look good. ^^

Home Depot is the best place to get supplies. Or, ransack your favorite store to take their cardboard boxes that they throw out ( we got a cardboard box from a local gardening shop because the weed-whacker boxes are big enough )

Imagination, and time is all you need.

Also, make sure that all of your measurements are right and make everything proportion. If you need any more help, just post again in this thread.

hey! Try checking out Keyblades.com

They're just pictures, but if you look at if carefully you might be able to get an idea of how it's made. I'm probably going to make one soon too, that is, if I get the funds for it >< being poor sucks.

Thank you. That's helpful. I don't understand the part about the (foam?). My Thai isn't as good as it used to be. That I can read any of your website is a miracle, lol.

Featherweight has a pretty awesome tutorial on how to make a Kingdom Key out of a dowel, cardboard, and hot glue basicly. It seems pretty easy, and I'm in the middle of making one myself.
clickhere.

I made my keyblades out of MDF board. They may not have any dimension as they were my first props that were bigger than my hand, but I am proud of them. Cut them out with the Roto-zip saw. But my dad did that as that saw is the most dangerous one we have (besides the table saw)

If you do make it out of metal, then chances are you will not be allowed to bring it to any cons. Most cons prohibit carrying around large metal props, as they could cause some serious damage to others, and are considered to be weapons.
