Wink No more Yuffies! (OR, boot help?)

Well, I'll be going as one of the many KH Yuffies for Otakon 2003 and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for her boots. Here's a picture for reference.
I was thinking of chopping up a pair of Timberlands for the yellow-ish part, but those things are way expensive.

Any suggestions?

I'm actually making this outfit... the boots are a problem for me, too...but I'm going to do one of two things...

IF I HAVE LOTS OF TIME: I will actually make a pattern of my favorite pair of Skechers, and sew boot covers. Basically just a neat little thing that slips over your shoe like a glove. I've done it once before; it's time consuming, but.... If made well, these look great.

IF I DONT HAVE TIME: I'm going to just buy some white shoes, paint them, and add a fabric cuff to them. I'm hoping I don't have to do this since it will look horribly innaccurate, but its better than nothing I suppose.

Good luck!

I'll also be cosplaying her at Otakon, hehe ^_^
I think I'm just going to buy any boots or shoes that's similar to hers, and if they're a different color, I'll just paint them. And as for the cuffs, I'll prolly make it out of cardboard, cover it with fabric, add it on top of the shoes, and hope it looks OK, lol...

That sounds like a good idea. What fabric do you think would be best?

Is there some special paint you'd use on shoes? I'd be afraid of it flaking off over the course of the day.

Hmmm... I'll probably try to use acrylic, and seal it with matte spray. That seemed to work for belts...

Oh dear... well...I apologize deeply, but I'm really afraid I don't have a step-by-step method. It was so horrendously trial-and-error that I can honestly say, if I went back to do it again, it would not be any easier. x_x

Basically...I traced the bottom of my shoe, and then took junk fabric and cut it in pieces until I found sizes that would adequately cover the sides. Once these ghetto patterns were made, I made them out of the real fabric... and even then it didn't exactly work. Basically you just need to find what method works for you best; I wouldn't recommend following what I tell you...it resulted in much anger, wasted fabric, and lost time. o_o;;; but I've seen it done by other cosplayers... perhaps someone with more experience will come across this thread, and help us all. *prays*
