Has anyone ever seen this anti-cosplay site?

http://www.catsonmars.com/otaku/arti...ay_warfare.php

I wonder who made it and I think some members here at cosplay.com are on it. Kinda messed up

Kinda like how it's messed up stealing pictures of other cosplayers and claiming it's you?

lol. i love that site.

it's obiviously a joke article. the only thing they get real serious on is the bad cosplay. i'm on their forum, and they're nice folks. seriously. they aren't anti-cosplay, either. there's plenty of cosplayers that like the site.

...people take everything seriously.

*coughs*

Yeah... really "nice" folks. I just read through some of their forums. They need lives and some decency.

I think that's sad that people would take time to make a web site that bashes cosplay.

Sorry about that. I was in 10th grade and that was when I was really stupid and still new to cosplay so I didn't understand cosplay yet.

But, anyway, are any people on that site even members of cosplay.com?

Okay, I have to confess right now that I do post there occasionally, and here are my reasons. I think the intention of the site was to make fun of two things:
1 - Otaku who are way too serious and think they really are anime characters
2 - People who don't put effort into cosplay.
Basically, they hit at the two extremes in an effort to make the cosplay world a better place. However, the weapon of choice is sarcasm, which can easily change into just being plain mean. Now, honestly, a lot of people there do go overboard, and often times there are really unkind words and other things exchanged. But the people there are all anime fans, and most of them are cosplayers themselves. Many members even post images of themselves in bad cosplay. The first time I found that site, I was honestly disgusted. But once I realized what the purpose was, it became something that I actually enjoy visiting once in awhile to see the "other side" of cosplay chat.

Some are....like me for example. We don't bash cosplay in general, just criticize certain costumes that are badly made. It's kind of a way to get stuff off our chests when places like cosplay.com or the cosplay LJ are always so niceynice and "OMG that's SUUU PRETTY!!!" all the time. :P But we do try to keep the criticism isolated to costumes and not make personal attacks against people. It doesn't always work of course. :P But if you don't like it, you don't have to go there.

The site isn't primarily about cosplay, it's about otaku in general and the dumb things that otaku who take themselves too seriously do. As for that "cosplay warfare" page, it's a JOKE.

If anything, visit the site as an example what not to do, and try improve your own cosplay based on their findings. I do.

Though the paper-bag gackt is awesome.

I personally dont think the site is that bad, but like Zell Chan said just use it as examples of what not to do.

I am glad you are able to apologize for it. Therefore I accept you're apology and thank you.

And yeah a lot of our friends are mentioned as well as my group on this sad site but not in the article that is. Umm I don't think it's that funny?

in all truth people do need to lighten up on taking cosplay 'seriously' but it's still rude to make fun of people who don't work as well as others do.

yes there are some costumes out there that aren't the best- but we all started some where right?

Oh as for whoever wrote the articles? I'd like to see their cosplay because I bet you they're probably not that great anyway. Kinda funny how people judge others but don't think they should be judged. ^.^

Ummmmmmm...actually no. In fact one of the 'Cosplay Bottom Ten' was of people from the forums sending in their own crappy cosplays. We're not serious about it - that's the point.

But besides that, the argument that you can't criticize something unless you can do better is ridiculous. By that logic, I can't say "wow, that song sucks" or "that movie was bad" unless I can record a better song or make a better movie. And movie/music/whatever critics shouldn't be allowed to say anything ever. :P

fully agreed, if you're going to pick apart some one elses attempt at something then you should be open for the same judgement, and not take that seriously either
