So onto the topic,
I'm wondering where i should start to make a power ranger style outfit? I was hoping on inviting my own design but people would still see where i was going with it, if anybody could give me ANY help I would really really appreciate it, oh and if by any chance who ever respondes happens to be a god could you give me a random price range with what I should do?
Thank you guys, and keep up the good work

That's really cool, I've actually considered Power Ranger cosplay myself. Obviously, the only thing I'm iffy on how to make is the helmet. :P
If you use spandex, expect to pay anywhere from $10 - $30 per yard (depending on where you get it and the quality). How much you'll need depends on whatever size you wear. For something like this I'd expect to pay around $100-$200 for materials and such.

Hooray for Sentai love. I'd ratehr try Jetman over the various power rangers series (it's easier to list them as Powere rangers tahn their respective original sentai names XD)
Ans yeas, you'll need spandex pobably, unless you plan on doing something that isn't the battle costume thing, but still recognizable. For example, my bro and I are trying to do an SPD cosplay, but we're using the black uniforms they wear in the SPD headquarters.
If you really want to do a spandex battle suit thing, I warn you, spandex isn't exactly easy to pull off, and though i've never sewn anythign with it, I'm guessing it's not so fun to work with.
Anywho, I wish you luck. It would be so awesome to see Sentai cosplayers.

If you're small enough you could just buy some little kid pajamas and be done with it

The secret to a good Power Rangers cosplay is to actually cosplay Municipal Force Daitenzen.

I've got a friend that cosplayed as Cmdr. Kruger from Dekaranger. I myself have wanted to cosplay as a Power Ranger, and will as soon as I am able. I'm not sure how to go about it, really...

Ooo, power rangers! I like them from the first series, with Tommy, Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy! I know Tommy wasn't really from the first series, he was the white ranger but...you know...and I love Adam, hehe! Adam rocks! *big Johnny Yong Bosch fan* ^.^ I never really got into the later series, not past Power Rangers Turbo. You could be a civilian power ranger and just dress in all one color clothing, haha. *walks around in all pink clothes* Look, I'm Kimberly! ^.^ Or Kat...which ever. :-p But Kimberly's cooler, whoo! *runs off singing "go go, Power Rangers*

Sentai and Power Rangers may typically use the same costume (as Power Rangers is based off Sentai) but the two series are entirely different, so people try not to confuse the two.
As for costumes in Sentai there are typically two types of costumes. The normal, everyday wear and of course what they wear when they transform. In Power Rangers the normal, everyday wear may be normal clothes and not a specific costume.
Making their trademark uniforms isn't that difficult as it's a bodysuit made of spandex. What would be hard and would be highly recommended to simply import, are the weapons and helmet. Yes, they make the weapons and helmets in Japan but finding a toy import store that has the item in stock can be at times a challenge.
I'll be making Magiranger costumes (normal wear) for my children because it is far simpler then attempting to make five uniforms, buy helmets and weapons for them.

Most helmets are fan made. You have to sculpt and cast your own usually. If you were to buy one, you would look at about $400-$1000 per helmet, and that means it might not even be painted or include the visor and clips to wear.

Actually, if you purchase someone elses work and make a replica, you are committing theft of that property. never cast anyone elses work unless you have permission to do so. If you do cast from someone elses, you have to make an enormous effort to change the look of it, to make it your own design. Not worth it.
Real helmets used by the series would be over $2000 to purchase (beause they were made by Toei).
Most replica helmets can be bought on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, so use a service like Celga or Rinkya to do so. Forewarning, some are not well made, or not accurate and many are either too big or too small and will cost you nearly $800 to get (not including shipping).
So, cheaply? Sculpt and make your own, to your head size.
