How good is the colour...

I am doing a quick dye, and I attempted to use sharpies, but the colour isn't dark enough. I am wondering if anyone can tell me from their experiences how well the colour turns out. (P.S. This was on a white wig.)

Well Ive been wanting a black wig for my LuLu cosplay, but sadly the one I bought didn't fit me. Well I have a wig I don't need anymore that I can dye with fw ink. I was told that for black I should use this method instead of the sharpie one. 'll let you know how it goes and post pictures this thread is really helpful! Thanks

Hi- I live in South Africa and neither Sharpies or FW ink are available here but~ the one store from which I get all my art supplies has a good range of DALA Acrylic Drawing Inks in 50ml bottles that last forever- they're described exacly like the inks in this thread, but what confuzzles me is that it "dries to a waterproof film" but also says "dilute and rinse brushes/pens with water"... o.O" um, I have used in many times to do traditional ink paintings over which i literally SCRUBBED watercolours and it hasn't smudged, so... do you think I could use it with water onmy wig, then let is dry and re-rinse? or should I still use alcohol? (bottle doesn't even mention alcohol)... Dala's a REALLY good South African art brand, but I really need to add some light brown lowlights to a blonde wig that's too light, and I don't have an extra wig to experiment TT_TT good wigs are also rare here... so what's your guys' opinions? thanks in advance

Is it alcohol-based, like permanent marker ink? (It won't work if it isn't.)

Copic (or a different brand of layout markers) should be available pretty much everywhere on the planet, though^^

Also, I recommend buying a pack of extensions (from an ethnic hair store, or online from www.doctoredlocks.com , for example) to make fiber swatches for tests.

Does anyone know if this method would work on heat-resistant wigs? I've bought a pink wig that turned out to be a bit on the light side but would like it to be several shades deeper. Nothing major.

I didn't have time to read through ALL the entries, but I was wondering if you can use the ink to adjust a color. I want to make a Eureka wig and was thinking of adding green to this wig: http://shop.cosplay.com/ccs02-sky-bl...m-bob-wig.html Think it will work? Here is a pic of Eureka's hair color http://www.pspsonywallpaper.com/11/a...reka-7-renton/

I'm planning on having a 60" wig... with no luck on color. I think I'll try this, but I do have a few questions first:

-I want to make my wig look rather golden, but not GOLD. http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/i...punzel_450.jpg (starting out http://www.epiccosplay.com/60-natura...splay-wig.html )

-Would it be safe (as in not rubbing off) to use Got 2b GLUED hair spray on it?

-Is this SAFE to keep the wig in an enclosed box, around my clothes?

You can change the colour of a wig that's already coloured, but it will only become darker. That sky blue wig you linked is already too dark for an accurate colour for Eureka. You're better off starting with this wig and using a blue and green colour to dye it, then cutting and styling it.

What color of ink from that website would you use to make platinum blonde? Would I get a bright yellow color and lighten it with white? Or a golden color and lighten it? Though I'm looking to make a platinum blonde wig with blue highlights. I thought I'd try dying a wig myself since I can't find any wigs for Nia (Gurren Lagann) that I liked on ebay or any where. This way I can make it as long as I want and dye it the colors I want as well.

I ended up getting this wig for the Eureka costume: http://cosplaysky.com/wigs/sweet-min...37cm-wigs.html But I want to dye it a bit darker...the FW ink in shimmering green looks like the perfect color, but has anyone used the shimmering ones? I don't really want it to sparkle. Do they dye as good as the regular ones?

When I look on amazon, the color is completely different! It's so much more green. What colors do you think I should mix? Or should I try this color? http://www.amazon.com/FW-Waterfall-G...217880&sr=1-11

Hi, I'm dying a wig for a friend of mine and I was hoping to get some advice on what colors would be best. I'm going to use FW Ink and I already know how to dye and such, just need some tips on color blending.

She's got this wig here:
http://www.mooncostumes.com/item/16154

and the character is Genesis:

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Heya! I just tried this method on a blonde front lace wig using speedball inks and the bucket method and it worked GREAT! I forgot to consider that the wig I was using was pretty yellowish to start with so it turned into a lovely green rather than the cyan color I was aiming for. Do you know if it's possible to layer this technique? Like if I went over it again with a really diluted blue tint to nudge it closer to the color I wanted, or would that remove the old color? I'm really pleased with the results either way! Thanks for this great thread!!

Edit: Sorry sorry, I only just now noticed the FAQ thread with that question in it. Well, I'm curious how it will turn out so I'll give it a try anyway, if all else fails I'll remove it all and start over.
