Cid Highwinds (AC) weapon and accessories

Hey guys, I'm having a tuff time figuring out if his spear in the movie is either rectangular or round (I'm talking about the shaft of the blade). I'm leaning more towards it being round because that will be a lot easier for me, but if it's rectagular than I can do that too.

Also, I'm having a tough time finding his welding goggles and welding gloves. I'm checking ebay every week, but I can't seem to find the ones that work. So if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.

I can't really get a reference pic yet (I'm at school) because the images that google gives me don't work. So if anyone needs some images, I'll try and post some later.

If memory serves correctly Cid wears eye-cup style welding goggles. Make sure to include "eye-cup" in your search criteria. You'll get some hits for victorian eye washing cups, but you should have better luck than just hunting through "welding goggles."

Ok, my memory sucks. Lookign at a close up of the character art for Cid,

...eye cup goggles won't work. These look more like one of the variants of RAF flying goggles. The most common type of RAF goggle you'll find are the ones with the sharp angled lenses (as seen in Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow). These clearly have smooth lenses. So far the closest I could find for you are,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...79043 34&rd=1

I found those by searching for "vintage goggles." You might also try aviation goggles or flight goggles. As you can see form the original artwork the lenses of Cid's goggles are clear, not dark, so aviation goggles are your best bet.

Good luck on the costume! I've wanted to cosplay as Cid for a LONG time now (he's the ONLY FF character I'd ever consider dressing as) but I refuse to bleach my hair and don't have the cash to spend on a good wig. I refuse to go half-assed.

PS Looking at the closeup pic, it really does appear that the shaft of Cid's spear is rectangular, ala a hockey stick
