Well, it was inevitable that I would ask to see if anyone would be going to this. It's my "big deal" convention of the year next to DragonCon, because of the absolutely wonderful stuff that ends up showing there costuming-wise.

If you're in the area and have never been to CostumeCon before, this is definitely a good year to go and watch, if nothing else. The cost is a bit on the steep side, but it's worth it for all of the things you can pick up. I know last year they had a Q&A for a couple of people from Simplicity...which was really cool for those of us with burning questions about patterns!

ETA: We're looking at about five weeks away to this....thinkin' I might be alone in this. *wince*

...and if you're coming, whatcha bringing? Doing either of the Masquerades? Something else entirely?

Kahlan from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series
Gunmage Rikku from FFX-2

I'm hoping to compete in the sci-fi/fantasy masquerade. I'm also going with another cosplayer from Colorado.

EDIT: I've never been before, so I'm terribly excited!! We should definitely meet up!

I think you'll enjoy it. It's looking to be a bigger convention than last year, that is for certain...plus the big ol' stage will be fun

You'll see me around, I'm sure. I'll be in the both Masquerades (SciFi as an entrant, historical as another entrant's prop), plus doing a few panels.

Let me see here..right now I'm scheduled for the following:

Goth and Fetish Costume
Entering Your First Masquerade
Cross Dressing
Meet the Up & Comers (this one still surprises me)

That's the stuff I'm actually IN the panel for. As for stuff I want to attend, I'm going to try to go to the Cosplay one, since I'm looking to wear Lotor that day for both that and the Cross Dressing panel. Afterall, it DOES fit both.

I'm sure this will change as the panel stuff adjusts and changes. But if you think you see me, please feel free to say hello. I try to make it a point to be chatty if I'm not scrambling around going "AIEEEEEEE!!!!"

Trust me on this one, you're not alone. CostumeCon has always been a gathering of the top level costumers from the Science Fiction and Fantasy convention circuit. But cosplayers of all levels of experience are welcome as one of the main goals of the convention is to trade tips and techniques. To say nothing about showing off that great costume.

It will be a bit quieter than an average anime convention. But between 2 formal masquerades (Science fiction/Fantasy -- ie: anything goes), (Historical -- classic pattern/style recreation (and occasionally interpertation), the future fantasy / single pattern fashion shows (and design contest), and the meet/greet social on Friday night, we usually manage to have a good time.

And did I mention that we get to use an actual theater for the masquerades?

Oh and Yes. I've known about this since CC22 in Atlanta And given the sizable prop I'll have this time? Gonna need all of the space I can get my hands on.
