a shot of making them: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3204803

and how they looked when done: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3152281/

I also put some magnets in them, so that when they were together they stuck together. and also i made the scabbard: 3 planks of wood, two the size of the sword, and another cut around the sword and glued together (with the cut out part in the middle) and then i cut away a lot of the outside wood so it was round, rather than a flat plank of wood. i haven't actually got any photos of them though.

The way her top clings, it's definitely got to be a fabric with stretch in it. I did some research and found out that the jersey weave was made in medieval times, but wasn't worn as anything other than underwear until 1917. Coincidentally, Korra is set in a 1920's-esque time. Between that and the fact that I'm a detail freak, I'm using a wool jersey for her top. It will cling like hers does, but it will still have the wool look that I think fits water tribe clothes. For people with more sense than me, however, a cotton jersey would work.

That's as far as I've gotten, unless you wanted to use tooled leather for her armbands (which I'm guessing is a no...).
This seems legit.. I agree with that too! I think I will go for a cotton jersy fabric as well! ^^

I'm pretty excited that jersey is "historically" accurate (not sure if that's a valid term for a fictional world... ^_^ ). I was really worried that I was going to either have to sacrifice accuracy and use jersey, or keep it accurate and cry at the amount of fitting and hidden zippers, and then I found out jersey was good and had a little party for myself.

More progress on my Chief Beifong cosplay! I'm okay with the wig for now, but it needs some styling to be as accurate as I'd like. I'm going to try and finish up all the body armor before starting on the gauntlets and boots. So glad we've been seeing plenty of Lin in the recent episodes!!

I am so excited to finally be doing a cosplay from these series. I have had Jet partially done since forever ago, but recently decided to make Korra's Firebending uniform. About halfway through, though, I decided to do a Bolin make-up test... and decided to do him instead. I will probably do both since the outfits are the same, but I was able to talk my brother into Mako when I do Bolin.

Edit: http://pezzidge.tumblr.com/post/2269...-shots-i-think These are silly snapshots of the first attempt.

I have a few Avatar cosplays planned out. Highest on my list is Pema. Hubby and I are trying for baby number 2 so I'll actually be 7-9months pregnant whenever I get around to making her. Painted Lady is up first though once we finish moving =) She gets so little love!!!!

Korra is actually going to happen! ~Happy dance.~ In celebration of this news, I did a test run of her hair last night. Seems that I have more hair than I thought, and will have to use very few wefts to get to the proper volume in her front-tassle-things, and none at all in the ponytail proper (though I think I'll still use some just in case).

Now to finish a few other projects before I start in on her.

My friend has a white ferret and is dying it to look like Pabu (Its anime dye, used for show animals. Perfectly safe, she is also a pet groomer, so she knows what shes doing) For her Bolin cosplay
