Nice work, TK2386!! Very smooth color and texture work. Are you going to extend it back over your ear and temple? I've found a partial bald cap works well for protecting your hair without cutting it off.

Here's my wig. Quite pleased with that lacefront ^^ (yup, going with her hair down) All that's left is to sew the combs in!

Thanks! Yeah, when I apply it at Dragon*Con, I'll extend the scar onto my ear. I actually usually keep my hair very short, so I might actually shave the burn pattern into my hair and then just shave my head at the end of the weekend.

Really awesome scar, TK2386! I normally see people just use make up, not go the full way with latex. It looks wonderful. C:
Update on Amon! The shoulders are completed! Now they just have to be formed to my shoulders and dyed. Bit of a preview of the coat as well. It's pretty much done. I just need to attach the front and attach the hood, now that I have the leather for the collar. ![]() Sorry the photo is so big. I tried to edit it to make it smaller.

Nice harness.
Hee almost done with the red tunic. Pants are finished. Black part needs bias tape. Not started on the armor yet.

Nice armor! Did you glue the two layers of leather together? You might want to think about sewing them down, so they won't separate under movement.
Meanwhile, my own Zuko armor is 24 hours from completion. Well, except for the hairpiece. (It's never actually done. Just done enough to take to the current con.) |

I did indeed, but with Barge's Cement. The same glue was used on my Rinzler costume. I can guarantee you that nothing will be coming off. That cement is so strong that it will rip skin if allowed time to dry. It also smells horrible and a mask is recommended for use.
The harness, however, was not glued. There's a hidden snap under the armor that connects the harness to it and allows movement. So I'll be rather comfortable when running around and posing. The only place stitched is the top of the armor to give it that nice curved shape.

I made the shoulder armor base. It's made of cardboard. I'm concerned it may be too rigid But I need it to be somewhat rigid because I'm going to do the trim out of model magic.
Do you guys think a layer or ten of mod-podge hard coat will make craft foam rigid enough?

The dye job looks good!
So if I put enough mod podge on it (which it'll also be covered with a fake leather material) and use model magic for the trim (looks more raised to me than bias tape would look) the craft foam will be rigid enough not to crack the model magic like crazy?

Thanks! C:
I've never used model magic, but I'm pretty sure the modge podge would be hard enough not to damage any other part of the armor. The more coats you use the more stiff the craft foam gets. It shouldn't warp or move much. Just keep testing it to see how much harder you think it should be. As I said, it's all up to you how many coats you use.

Good luck! I hope it works for you. C:
Sorry. No photos tonight, but the leg armor got detailed a bit more tonight. Most of the armor should, theoretically, be done by the end of this weekend. Don't quote me on that. lol But, they should. We have some scary storms coming in from the tropical storm in Florida (I believe) so I wont be going anywhere. XD

It's so exciting seeing everyone's progress on stuff. Updates are fantastic.
Here's my finished royal armor! There were a few tweaks done after we took these photos, and my hairpiece and makeup aren't done. So it's just, oh, 99% done here. ![]() Fire Nation royal armor by tereshkova2001, on Flickr |
