White is traditional, but there aren't really many restrictions on modern hanbok colors nowadays; I think pretty much any tasteful color combination can work. I've seen some very pretty ones in dusty roses and mauves.
I found the Yang book pretty useless as far as telling me exactly how to *wear* hanbok - what exactly the correct undergarments look like, how to wear them, etc. - so I've relied on the things I've bought from Korea. The "petticoat" nowadays is like a one-piece slip with an empire bodice (not straps like the ch'ima) and a relatively stiff fabric for the skirt. |

Koumori, any other book suggestions? I bought it while at the Seoul airport because it was pretty, and it has a lot of information. I was hoping it had more of a "how to wear" section in it, though... but the pictures are gorgeous.

I love hanboks please wear them. hehehe. Also if you could please post pics of the final product. You dont neccessarily have to be in it but I just want to see what itll look like. just curious. also Do girls like to wear their hair in the traditional style with the chopstick (hehe the jade stick thing) or hanbok and present day hairstyle?

I haven't seen a place to buy norigae separately (in English anyway), though sometimes they do turn up on ebay. My life in this regard would be much, much easier if I could read Korean, I suspect. You might even consider checking out books on macrame for the knots, as I'm sure I've seen those diamond-shaped knots elsewhere...
