At the risk of sounding like a dumbass, what difference does it make whether you buy the anime deluxe pass, or the horror deluxe pass, or the gaming deluxe pass, etc.

Does buying one type of pass exclude you from all other events?

Mostly, I just wanna make sure that I can go to the Masq. And the dance (if there is one) and the Karaoke, and fun stuff like that. I'm not TOO incredibly interested in sitting in on the lectures or anything like that. (But I still want to make sure that I could go to them if my friends were all going)

Also, I have a friend who doesn’t want to spend the money on the pass. He just wants to sit in the lobby n take photos. But, if I go to the Masq. Or karaoke, would he then not be able to come with us???

The answer is in my earlier post.

Nope. With the exception of the Anime Section. With every pass you can get into almost every event (minus some of the anime content, AMV and the masq).

The Comic/Horror/Gaming/Sci-fi 3 day passes are refered to as 'Deluxe Passes'. You buy a Deluxe pass under any of those headings and you get access to everything (unless a special ticket is involved) in the Comic, Horror, Gaming and Sci-Fi sections. With any of the deluxe passes you get access to some of the anime section content (once again... I listed what is said on the website above).

Buying an Anime pass is only available as a 3-day pass. With that you can get into everything... all the stuff a Deluxe pass can do PLUS full access to the anime section. But not the special ticket events (lilke Frodo...) It is the Ace of Spades of passes.

Details on how to get into the Masq is TBD. No clue if tickets will be given out (a la Anime North's Masq). But what is known... and I stress this because some folks will skip this info and complain to those loveable Masq volunteers who only help bring to you that wonderful show...

the MINIMUM REQUIREMENT TO HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE THE MASQ IS A DELUXE PASS OR AN ANIME PASS. THEN SEATING IS ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. BUYING A DELUXE OR ANIME PASS DOES NOT GUARENTEE GETTING A SEAT AT THE MASQ! (Once I again... I point out that this is stated above in my earlier post).

There is no dance. Karaoke... you need an Anime Pass. In the past they have set up a fee at the door for folks who don't have an Anime Pass. No idea if they are going to do it again.

Sitting in the lobby... is no problem. Masq, he will definately not be able to go. Karaoke... see the point above.

It can be a little confusing. I had to make sure I read everything carefully so I got the ticket I wanted! lol

Nope, not to me. Maybe the website isn't as intuitive as it should be? Although I like this year's version is its best.

Does anyone know why the Anime pass is 3 days only? I had wanted to save a little of my money since I can probably only make one day anyways...

I always thought that there was only the 3 day option (which was fine by me, because I always go all 3 days - one is never enough.) But I do have friends who I know have bought one day passes. They bought them AT the con though, so maybe you can not purchase them online.

ALSO, they bought them on the LAST day of the con - which makes sense why they would only sell a 1 day pass, instead of a 3 day pass on that day - because there is only ONE day left!

I would look into it if I were you mellounicorn, but I think that the one day pass is only available on the last day.

heki to be safe...people watching the masq should have a delux pass & wait in line early, exactly what justin suggested. CN really has their visitors confused with their masquerade policy..each year they've been changing it!! lol

for anyone who's NEVER been to CNA before or those debating on getting pre-reg or not...

A) If you are coming EARLY to the con on Friday, that is before registration opens...
You should probably line up rather than getting pre-reg. As you'd have to line up for the "pre-reg" line anyway...and nothing is opened for awhile. No point in paying for that extra service fee when everyone is lining up and waiting anyhow!

B) If you are coming LATE...after registration opens
Buy pre-reg..unless you want to wait in line for hours
I've experienced being in the line for two hours around registration time (I think about 5)...NEVER AGAIN O_O

I hope that helps everyone ^_^ ^_^

The rules for the line-up were confused by those who were in line and some organizing the line. There are probably folks who would describe the situation better than me.

The big boohaha was Deluxe/Anime Passes vs Basic (aka 1 day) Passes.

Deluxe/Anime passes were given line priority last year. It was written on the site... so folks said the way it was worded was confusing. Also some folks were told by the ticket dealers that with a Basic pass they could get in to see the Masq, which is both true and false. With any pass you have the *CHANCE* to see the masq... but with a Deluxe/Anime Pass you have a much better chance then with a Basic Pass.

Early on when planning for the event was occuring... some wanted Anime Passes to get priorty and everything else would follow after them. This, of course was unfair and thankfully some folks fought and had it changed. Then some of the line organizers didn't know of the change and were attempting to make the Deluxe Pass line-upers (so technical) move behind the anime Passes. After getting clairification from the Masq director... that was scrapped. Yet the disorgnaization left a bad taste in folks mouthes.

Regardless... this year it clearly states on the site that to see the masq you at the minimum a DELUXE OR ANIME PASS. So a basic pass can't get you into the masq... and even if you have a deluxe/anime pass you are not guarenteed a seat because events have limited seating capacity. Supposedly there might be a wristband policy (like AN) so folks will know in adavnace if they will will have a seat.

The way I see it. The Anime section is the most costly of all... and it isn't cost effective to offer a 1 day pass. I'd personally perfer if they put the AMVs on Sunday, to stretch things out. I've missed them for the past 3 years because I can't go and see them and expect a god seat for the masq.

There are only 1 day passes available for the Comic/Sci-Fi/Horror/Gaming sections. To be further clear. There are 1 day Comic Passes, 1 day Sci-Fi Passes, 1 day Horror Passes and 1 day Gaming Passes... but there is NO 1 day Anime Pass!

Actually, they changed it just last year. To deter folks who would buy 1 day passes and then camp out for the masq or to comfort folks were angry that they bought the anime pass (the most expensive ticket) and would get shutout? Who knows, but It makes sense. You pay the higher price, you have a better chance to see the masq.

I've never pre-reg, but I've enjoyed the wait in the reg line. Usually folks just sit around and talk about stuff... time seems to fly buy. But your advice is sound!

Since I barely scrapped together $36 (including discount coupon), I'd rather know this now than show up the day of and get screwed: The prices listed on the site, is that not including taxes or is that the exact prices of everything? The last thing I want is to be short a few meeesleeee dollars. >.<

I WOULD pre-reg, it's just that there's a service fee I'd rather not pay (just call me Cheaps-chan XD).

Also, are children three and younger free or anything like that? I want to bring my nephew. He said he wanted to dress as Tidus from FFX (well...he calls Tidus Josh because when my sister was playing the game, that's what she called him.)
