Black Hair Dye

I need to dye my hair black so that I can play Kagura from Inuyasha. The problem is that temp hair dye doesn't wash out of my hair very well and I damaged it very badly the last time I had to force the black out. Does anyone know of a good temp dye that generally washes out faster than most but won't fade for atleast a week. I have dark red hair with traces of blue if it makes a difference.
Also, if you could, I would need a site or a hint about where to get it if it can't be found at Walmart. Sorry, but I live in the middle of nowhere.

Well, you didn't have to be so rude about it. I did look in a few, but it mostly "I want to dye my hair for one day" or "Wig or dye". I needed more specific advice. But, you know, whatever. I get it. No asking specific questions here.

If I had wanted to be rude, I wouldn't have said please.

I don't usually go out of my way to tell people to look in other threads, but I just answered this same question yesterday. You'd be surprised how many detailed responses there are, even if the person asking the question just asks a one-liner like, "OMGWTF HOW DO I GET MY HAIR BLACK FOR ONE DAY ONLY WITHOUT A WIG OR THAT SPRAY-ON CRAP?!!?" For example:

"If your hair is brown and you try to dye it black, the dye WILL stain your hair, even though it's supposed to wash out in 8-12 shampoos. I discovered this the hard way. I have naturally light brown hair but I dyed it dark brown. The dye was supposed to come out in a month, but it remained dark brown for about two months and then faded to a medium brown. About 5 months later, my hair is close to my natural color, but it's still on the dark side, and is more like my winter coloring."

"In short, temporary black hair dye is NOT temporary. No matter what the box it comes in says, no matter how convincing the argument is, no matter what ANYONE says--temporary black hair dye is permanent.

So, you can either dye away at your own risk, or you can get a wig. It's true that long black wigs don't exactly come cheap, but if you keep your eyes peeled (and there are NUMEROUS threads here on c.com that LIST several reputable online wig stores), you might find one that falls in your budget. Also, black-haired anime characters are a dime-a-dozen, and chances are pretty good that if you watch a LOT of anime, and you're a hardcore cosplayer, you'll find more than one use for that wig. A black wig is like a little black dress--it's ALWAYS good to have in your closet."

Those are two very detailed responses that probably answer your question, and those are from the links I provided you. Maybe next time you'll believe people when they say, "Use the search engine! It REALLY works!"

Try colour pulse by lore'el(spelt wrong but you know what I mean) it takes 3 weeks to a month to wash out but it doesnt damage your hair. I have dark dirty blonde and had to go as van fanel to an anime con im going as hiei now and im using it again. It will wash out slowly but It comes out all the way and is not permanent in the least..im proof because if it was permanent I would not need to "stain it"

The Color pulse is ammonia free and generally is like one of those streakers in wash in goodness^^ it doesnt damage your hair like I said but if you have sores or sunburn on your scalp dont use it , it could hurt your sores and sunburn. If you have long hair buy 2 if you have short hair buy 1 if you have really long hair buy 4 or 3...im a girl but I have short hair soo I used only one but it comes in red and my friend is going as Kurama so she is using the red to make hers redder I recommened it to her and I wouldn't if it wasnt good so trust me on this one.

and jaina you are right about the wig thing but I have to keep asking the same questions too because people dont exactly know what they are doing on some.

I would go with the color pulse too b/c it is gentle on your natural color, but a lot of temps take a few weeks to months to wash out so you might be better off with a wig if you only want it for con time.

Colour Pulse. ^-~ VERY bright color on any hair.

I dyed my naturally brown hair red with it. Washed out in about 3 weeks but my bottom part of my hair is still lighter because of another dye I used. (Wasn't smart doing that XD)

I attached a picture of my hair about a week after I dyed it.

I would not reccomend Color Pulse dye if your hair is already colored. I assume it is being that it has some blue in it. I used it on my very blonde (think village of the damned) hair and it was fine. However, my friend, who has naturally brown hair that was dyed blonde, used it and it turned her hair a very bright purple color. It also didn't wash out like it did for me. She ended up having to go get it stripped at a salon, which cost a fair amount of money. Just a heads up.

When I dyed my hair black temporarily, I didn't have any problems at all, except maybe that it washed out too quickly. 0_o In fact, the dye actually seemed to make my hair more healthier, and didn't damage it at all. I'm not exactly sure of the product I used, but I know that one of my mother's friends, who is a hairdresser, bought it. Maybe you could try finding black dye through salons instead of over-the counter products? I know there was a special white-ish mixture the dye had to be mixed with before it was applied to my hair.
