I remember doing that. In high school, I didn't have lunch class scheduled so I could get more credits. so in the middle of math class i'd start eating. Everyone the first time just looked at me and i was just like "what? I'm hungry" .

nice having mom being a Tailor since I know all my measurements. (btw I didn't get fat, measurement was from muscle gains ^_^ went from 25% body fat to around 8-9% and still gained 3 inches =)
I know I at least gained an inch in arms. hopefully i can biggify my chest. my goal is getting three inches there. since my only real chest exercises have been various pushups, with proper weight training gains should be challenging but more then possible.

Block (A) of my workout is working out repetition, the same weight over many reps and block (B) of my workout is increasing weight and lowering the reps. Which looks like the WS4SB workout if I was reading it right, I just go about different exercises and scheduling.

I'm really enjoying it so far. The increase of weight gives me a new challenge and I'm learning more about my strength, the repetition being my muscular endurance. But yeah, I'll get on the whole workout plan sometime tonight!
YAY!!!

So I have some questions.
Has anyone tried P90X or Insanity (or both)? If so, how was it? What were the pros? Cons? Were the results good?
I am thinking about saving up for one of the 2 but I would like to hear some reviews first ^^

OH. ME! ME‼ I did!

P90x works. it definitely does. lost 40 lbs. best shape of my life. giant alucard can tell you about insanity. keep in mind its more weight loss then muscle building.

I looked into p90x and it's anything but revolutionary, I don't think it's worth the money imo. The only thing that p90x did was involve weight training with aerobics, but put it into a industrial setting so it makes guys feel less gay, and women don't feel too out of place cause they don't see girls with huge bulgy muscles.

The pros of it, it shows you many exercises and demonstrates for you in one nice package, and exercise equipment to workout with are pretty cheap and easy to find. It can be a motivator cause it shows different routines and workouts in phases so there's a better chance you'll feel like your not stuck in a rut.

cons of it, the price, the host is really annoying (personal opinion), and working the entire body with weights just seems like a bad idea, since there's probably no one at home to check your form there's a chance you could result in some sort of injury over time.

Imagine trying to learn how to body build or even martial arts by yourself at home, without proper instructions you can create bad habits quite easily.

In the end eat right and exercise, it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you do it. Just stay focused and determined and don't cheat and become an idiot about it.

idiots include: going to the gym to run 3 miles on the treadmill, yet driving circles around the parking lot to find a closer parking spot (only excuse is rain or snow)

making it to the gym and chatting with a friend sitting down on the machines and not working out. General rule of thumb, if you know what your doing, and your in the gym for more than 1-2 hour straight your probably doing something wrong.

Saying I have no time, as an excuse yet they can tell you about every American idol episode...

going to the gym to hit the cardio machines upstairs and taking the elevator to get there....
(i can understand going down if you killed your legs, I looked like a retard in high school after having competitions with friends in leg presses and squats, and trying to go upstairs to science for 2nd period.....)

Posters on bodybuilding.com who think it's funny to call the squat rack a curl rack for "really tall people"

People who wear under armour with a male muffin top... I'm sorry I have quite a few under armour I got as presents, a good tank top keeps me dryer imo, the moisture wicking might be nice if I had football pads on etc, but it just makes my whole upper body feel damp -_-;

Girls who use the abductor machines (ones that look like the thigh master) and think they can "tone" their legs by doing 10 pounds for an hour.

People who think doing 500 sit ups a day will gain them a six pack.

My biggest pet peeve is people who tries to talk to you and won't shut the hell up XD

Instead of beauty to direct its light to, the heart hardens like the frozen world your absence has banished me to.

I agree with everything distantarray mentioned about P90X. Another addition to the pros: schedules and templates. For those individuals who don't want to do the research, P90X provides all the necessary information in nice folders. It should be also mentioned that privacy is a nice bonus. The one thing that I hate about the gym is when people hog the equipment by placing all their belongings on or by them as if it's their own personal equipment. Ugh.. this is why I wish I had a dedicated workout room at my home.

I have a friend who used both, Insanity is usually for after you've gone through one or two P90X cycles so its probably better starting on P90X. Its really just a workout package so if you don't feel like researching an exercise routine yourself, i guess your paying for someone elses knowledge.

In my case i'm more interested in sculpting so, p90x doesn't really meet my needs. Little too high on the ab routines, and i'm trying to keep a slimmer frame i guess.

@Distant_Array You forgot to mention people to drop weights at the gym. People who stand pressed up against the dumbbell racks. And people who grunt like they're shooting a porn video.

Hey guys need some opinions.
I'm about 5 foot 2 and about 112 lbs. Right now my figure is:
Bust: 32 inch
Waist: 26 inch
Hip: 35 inch
So I'm a bit of a pear. I want to get more toned while eating better and hopefully losing a bit of weight but I'm really confused how to start. Are there any work outs that can help trim my waist other then pure cardio?

Oh and also @ SapphireChaos
Insanity is something you want to do after you're in ok shape. I couldn't even get through one workout. I'm getting the P90X now... I think neither of them are 'worth the money' if you catch my drift.

I've lost 7 kilos in the last 3 months and am STILL a Japanese XL on the bottom. (culprit : thighs/hips ~ 96-98 cm)

What the ~hell~ *grumpyface*

On the top ~ I'm now a Japanese medium. My waist is now a Japanese large (69cm)

I'm managing to juuuuust squeeze into large costumes... but let's just say I won't be able to pose sitting down ^^;

This is depressing.

Does anyone have any ideas for a more targetted approach at trimming down your lower body?

More cardio is key here. diet loses the weight, but exercise is what gets you into shape. Just remember that there is no such thing as targeted fat loss. you gotta work the whole body.

I said the samething about weight training and martial arts as well but then remember there is also women who think they're porn stars getting stared at doing the thigh master workout for an hour with 10pound weights

It's been awhile since I've been on the forum. I majorly had a cheat weekend. I went to visit my grandparents who live in NC. We went to all the yummy places to eat, my grandma wasn't in a cooking mood this weekend. I ate dinner Sat night and I was so sick. Too much grease and unhealthiness. God it was good tho.

I'm not sure how much weight I've lost (scale is broke), but I do know I just bought a pair of pants 3 weeks ago and they were a little loose today. Back in Dec or January I tried on this jacket I wanted from a store. I was size 14 now the 12 fits, tho a little short on me.

It's amazing how much being stronger and healthier has improved my horse riding. I have more stamina so I've been able to handle my horse's training issues, which half of it is just being able to be stronger and outlast her. Riding with this French lady at the barn I really do need the stamina, she's no lite weight, she kicks your rear.
But since my horse is injured I guess I'll have to add more time exercising, since she's out for another week.

To me it sounds like you're at a pretty good weight, but, what do I know n_n. I once heard that a good size weight for people is 100 lbs. at 5 feet, then 5 pounds for every inch you go up. For me that's about 10 lbs I need to loose (but I really am looking at 15 ;3 )

Just wanted to say that you cannot specifically target fat in certain area's of your body outside of liposuction. Your body chooses where it wants to burn fat from so, only way to get rid of fat on a certain part of your body is it keep at it until your body finally decides its time to use that fat. For women, their thighs their prime fat storage spot so, it can take quite a while if your goal is smaller thighs.

Waistline, a trick is to avoid building the muscles around your waist (lower back, abs, obliques) and target the muscles in your hips and upper back, chest, shoulders. It will hourglass your figure, basically a trick in proportioning because you can choose where you build muscles, just not where you lose fat.

And no, unless you dedicate years into it, you won't turn into a muscular body builder, noone wakes up one morning and goes Oh god, what happened, why am i so big. Takes a long time to build muscle.

Actually its the same for any safe body changes. Losing 20 lbs of fat takes as long as gaining 20lbs of fat. If you said i want to gain 20lbs of fat in 2 weeks, good god thats a lot of work, 70000 excess calories stored.

To put my few cents in, I don't really think it matters if you're a big cosplayer or not, hell more power to you. I've seen chubby Yuuko's from xxxHolic and the one girl from Gurran Lagaan -or whatever it is- and they looked amazing.

But I guess it goes more about health issues than cosplay. I'm 5' 7'' and I weigh a good 310 pounds and I'm happy who I am, though I know I need to lose weight.

Its mostly about the image /inside./ If you feel you can do it and you think you look good, it doesn't matter what other people think.
