painting latex masks

I was needing some advice on painting latex masks. What kind of paint should I use? can it be done by hand, or do i have to use an airbrush? How can i make it look shiney after i have painted it? any other advice about painting latex? thanks

Studio creations has an excellelent tutorial on how to make an evil ash mask from army of darkness: http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/evilash/main.html
(see detailing the mask) According to them, either hand painting or airbrushing is ok. They also provide a home made mixture to make flexible paint.
good luck.

well i have looked at thier site and I am kind of warry of making my own paint I know squat diddily about paints. I looked at the site they recomend for buying paint, but I dont know if that kind of paint would be shiney enough, I may make parts of a samus costume out of latex and I want it to look nice and shiney as opposed to looking like monster skin. do you know if there is something i can put over the paint to make it shiney? do they even have things like gloss coats for latex? thanks for the help.

Edit: upon closer look, mixing it myself might not be too hard as i could customize color too... has anyone ever done this? is it hard to do?

you worry about as much as I do, and i gotta say, I kinda like knowin I aint the only one.

as for mixin paints, not that hard, jsut need lots of bowls/containers, brushes and the like. As for shiney.. hmmmm tryin to think what you could use to add to make it shine. that "gloss coating" if you will
