Buttons?
This may seem like a weird question...but has anyone ever seen fox-shaped buttons? ^_^; Head, whole body, whatever fox-related...see, my roommate wanted Pajamas for Sakura-con next year so I made her Naruto's pajamas. Then I had the random idea that the buttons should be little foxes!
I've looked at Michael's, Joann Fabrics, Hancock's, and my internet searches come up with no real results. Making them isn't really an option either, I'm horrible at sculpting...plus it's too much effort for actual pajamas, anyway. Any other ideas on how to create buttons would be helpful too. Thank you! ^.^

If you can't find the buttons you are after, try to get fox faces printed on fabric to make your own fabric-covered buttons. They sell the metal forms for the buttons at most fabric stores. They also sell fabric that you can print things onto so you could make your own if you had to.
I'm looking around right now and I've found some absolutely gorgeous Chinese Zodiac buttons, cats, jade, and all kinds of fantastic things...but no kitsune or kyuubi. ![]() http://www.vintagebuttons.net if you're interested, BTW...maybe you can ask this person if they can make or know where to find foxy buttons? -Tenebrae.

This is what they look like - plain smooth metal things that you stretch fabric over. This is what you use to make fabric-covered buttons for nice dress shirts or for those pretty little buttons on a Chinese-style blouse where you have a row of like 6 of them instead of frog closures. -Tenebrae.

If you don't mind drawing (or tracing) some pictures of a fox, you can use this stuff called shrink plastic. There's a brand out there called "shriny dinks", and its basically a themoplastic that you can draw on with pencil crayons (on certain types), bake and it'll shrink and thicken. Punch two (or four) holes into it, and you can sew it on like a button! This stuff is really versatile and durable, plus you can get very detailed buttons from it (however, they'll be 2D, not 3D)
here's a link to their site: http://www.shrinkydinks.com/ You might also be able to find it in craft and hobbies stores like Michael's (that's where I got mine) Hope this helps ^.^ I can show you some pictures of what I'm talking about if you don't know what I mean. |
