Devil May Cry Thread
I'm planning to cosplay Dante Sparda. I'm going with his outfit from DMC3. So far I'm having some difficulty finding some big zippers for his jacket/coat and also finding faux leather for his pants. Anyone know of any places I can find some?

Nothing doing but his pants arent leather. His pants arent leather in any of the games. They are velvet or a velore.
Also if you are going to go as Dante from DMC3 you are going to be topless pretty much except the coat.
If you want big zippers, check out a craft store in the hand bag making section, or go to the salvation army and take apart a suitcase.
Faux Leather is easy enough, go to a fabric store and they will have it, it isnt cheap, and its not the easiest thing to work with.

Are you sure his pants are not leatherish? From the pictures I've seen and screen caps, they look like leather biker pants. It look nothing like velvet.

I had trouble finding some brown pleather for the pants so I went ahead and used black. The black I used is somewhat of an old dirty black that has somewhat of a brown to it. It was hard to find and expensive too.

The pleather I got was the wrong one I wanted. The one I got has a feltish feel to it but oh well. I'm not sure when I can start sewing it all together yet.

I used regular black jeans with my Dante cosplay and it ended up turning out just fine.

..er, I gotta disagree on that. >_o Not that I think Dante wouldn't were velvet or velore, 'cause that's what the sleeves on his DMC2 attire remind me of texture wise, but the slacks could be looking 'shiny' due to the game graphics or the dark/humid atmosphere during the game. They're probably just regular cargo pants or some kind of water resistant nylon mix(like swimshorts/trunks).

In the first DMC, its unknown exactly what the material of his coat was. All that was known, was the coat was a totally different material then the under vest/pants (which were identical material).
DMC2, I've seen done in nice velvet, to broadcloth. Anything that has a good flow (shown whenever he jumped), would be appropriate, depending on the desire of the cosplayer.
DMC3, definitely leather (both coat and pants). I have the wallscroll, and its blatent that his pants are leather, as is the jacket. My guess, Dante realised how painful it was wearing all leather, and switched to more breathable clothing for DMC and DMC2 :3

this does prove what happens when you spend most of the game cursing at it for getting you ass handed to you repeatedly. I really hated DMC 3. I do love his boots though...I want some like that.
DMC 2 The pants and coat always seemed to change. We chose a velvet. Thou broad cloth might work. In DMC 2 his costume changed alot from the first game. The costume went more victorian meets punk. There is a WWII feel to his gun holsters. But then again depending on the costume you pic is how he looks.
Check out my gallery and you can see how our version of Dante came out.
