Hotel Question - Not Cosplay related but...

Hey, question for you all:

I stayed at the Westin itself, from Thursday till Monday. When I got back into town, I went to put some money into my bank account, and found out I had been charged an extra fee of $56.00 by the hotel.

Now, it took me a few phonecalls to find out, but it seems they charged me a cleaning fee. An extra one. The explanation is that either there was a lot of garbage, or extra cleaning staff had to be called in to clean up the mess.

For those who know me, you know that I try to keep the room in fairly good shape. I do a clean-up before I leave, placing all trash either into the cans, or into plastic bags, and tend to put them by the door.

I know our sheets were off the bed, we were looking for things which got lost inside them, we had wig clippings and some other messes around the room, but it wasn't anything really worse than I did last year, and last year I did not get charged.

Did anyone else get charged this 'Cleaning Fee'?

Ryochan

Hm. No, but I was in the clarion. Sounds like you should be asking to talk to one of their managers to resolve...

Well I got them to put the payment on the right card, at least. However, asking my room-mates, they are just as confused as I am. I will speak to my Mother when she gets home, she's better at this. ^_^;

I don't think so (according to the bill I got at checkout) but when my credit card statement comes next month I'll check. Thanks for the heads up. We didn't leave a particularly messy room either, in fact, I usually pick up small things prior to leaving. If they charged every congoer just because of the con, I shall be rather pissed.

I would hope not. Still, it would be nice if they told me exactly what we did. I know there were messes, but it wasn't anything worse than I'd had before ><

Email Yaoi-Con's Director, Susan, at director@yaoicon.com and let her know what happened. She's compiling a list of hotel complaints to present at the post-event meeting with both hotels.

This is the first that I'd heard of such a charge, but it doesn't mean that others weren't charged for the same thing.

You may also want to ask the hotel for a copy of any paperwork that you may have signed stating that you agreed to pay for such a charge. And ask for documentation stating exactly what was wrong; if they can't provide it, tell them that you refuse to pay for it and that you're contacting your credit card company to reverse the charge. Note who you spoke with, too.

I was with Ryochan in the room. I think our Fanime hotel room way way messier, so I'm rather puzzled too.

As for the Clarion... We walked around upstairs there and I was getting seriously freaked out in those hallways. *_*

At the risk of thread revival (shame on me! )

We got socked with extra fees by the Westin too last year, and threatened to file a formal complaint (and got them removed) - that's the benefit of using American Express for hotel rooms.

Westin = better location, Westin = major jerks. This year I'll be in the Clarion. (Besides being cheaper, the rooms have free Nintendo, I've been told... ^^)

I will be in the Clarion myself. I actually prefer it especially for its proximity to the big live programming events. ^^

hurray for commuters!!

I'll be commuting myself back and forth since I don't live so far as well =3 I'm sure many people love to do the same since the convention isn't to far away from where we live.

I chose the Westin because that is where the convention is actually taking place, not to mention it has a shuttel service too and from the airport...why do I always choose the farthest conventions to go to from home?
