Dani's Supplies WILL honor CnB gift certificates
I gave it some serious thought. It's MY name and signature on those certificates, not CnB. My word is my biggest asset. If I loose that I have nothing.
Certificates can be used to pay for up to 50% of any order of items in stock, excluding shipping. Cheers.

Were those the certificates used to reimburse people?

awe Dani, I feel so bad for you. That was totally unfair that the CnB Chair is forcing you dealers to make that decision. My friend who went to CnB brought me back a few he got, I'll take some nice pictures of me burning them ^-^ Its one less GC that you have to worry about.

Personally I take them as cheques. If someone comes to me to cash a cheque I wrote, I can't say "I won't honor it because the person I gave it to owes me money".

yeah but giving away for prizes and draws is one thing, but to give them out to make pissed off people happy for something that wasn't your fault...? :\

Yes, the whole situation sucks any way you look at it.
I just don't want to add to the general discontent by telling people that the paper they have with my signature is also worthless.

You know Dani, I'm now really concerned as to just where those manga I was given to compensate panelists came from!

As a dealer I never saw a choice to pay for my booth with merchandise, so unless a manga dealer made a private arrangement I doubt they come from dealers rooms fees.
Unless somebody jumps in claiming to be owed $$ for manga, I'd assume they came from the con chair private stash...

Dani,
Doing this shows a lot of character on your part. You were put in an akward position and I hope that people think twice before they take advantage of the certificates they got at CNB. |

Of course I agree with Chani 100%. Once again you show what a good person and reputable dealer you are.

"I believe some of them were. The original idea was to use them for prizes on the different events that were to be held. How were they actually handed out I'm not sure. Maybe the people that got them can shed some light." I don't know if any gift certificates were handed out as prizes for either costuming or gaming after I left the convention. I know that none of them were handed out as prizes on Friday night or Saturday morning. I actually had possession of your company's gift certificates briefly on Friday night when I was trying to salvage some sort of costume contest. I handed none of them out. I returned all the certificates to the con office on Saturday morning before I left. I don't know what happened to them afterwards. I thought Con No Baka would be a mess, but I never imagined it would end a day early and degenerate into anarchy (see the Con No Baka forum for info about thefts and looting at the end of the con). If I had predicted things would get so bad, I would've destroyed the certificates when I had them. Damn, I didn't. As for the manga, I think those were purchased by Aaron months ago. Aaron somehow purchased a large number of manga cheaply and was giving them away as promotions to people who pre-registered for Con No Baka at his table at Toronto Trek, Ad Astra, and Anime North. Derwin. |

Thanks all for your kind words. And seriously... I've already moved on. My mind is already in at least 20 different new things, each one of them a lot more exciting and interesting and promising than the recent past.
