Here's the site if you don't know what i'm talking about

I'm from NB, so I'd love to come see, but I can't justify the 16 hour drive

I'm definetly going, I went last year and I was actually quite impressed with the con, even though it was just starting up, and it was run complteley by students of Mount Allison. I really like the dealers room too, and there were some really neat cosplayers. I recomend anyone in the New Brunswick area attend this con for at least Saturday. We're actually thinking of going on Friday, and gettting a hotel room. (we're from Fredericton)

Oh, ikegami I didn't know you lived in New Brunswick! Wow, you must travel a lot then, you're at almost every major con in Canada!! Where exactly do you live in New Brunswick? It only took us about 2 1/2 hours to drive to Sackville last year.

I really hope Maritimers get out and support AniMaritime this year. Having a con in our area is awesome, I really commend the Mount A. students who organize it (as a university student myself I'm amazed that they pulled it off). Like Kinsako said, I was really impressed with the cosplayers and dealer's room last year. I wasn't able to cosplay last year but will this year for sure.

Support AniMaritime! The east coast needs conventions, it gets expensive to travel to Ontario and the States. If we support AniMaritime it could really go far.

Where in NB are you, Ikegami? You took our picture at CN Anime (Zabuza, ANBU, Hayate, Kyuubi). I've been a fan of your site for a while but didn't know you were from NB.

As my background is Acadian, it's possible I may show up at Animaritime at some point in the future. I'd like to, in any case.

Cosplay seems small in the Maritimes, but on the contrary, I have met several cosplayers at conventions (usually pretty swank ones) who come from there, Acadia inparticular.

For those of you interested, we've announced our guests and posted a tentative schedual on the website. There's also only 10 days left to pre-register for $20 (it's $25 at the door). Also we have a Cosplay dinner that you can pre-reg for. More details at our site

It's going to be a good time We're a nice small con so it's a great social atmosphere with lots of pannels, events and showings to keep you entertained. This is our 3rd year, and we've been growing by leaps and bounds. Do I sound enough like an infomercial yet?
Come on out for a cheap weekend of good times! (This is a small town during the off-season, it's like 1/3 the cost of a room in Toronto)

Is there really a Huge anime Market in the east? I was in NB and PEI and such last year ( all my family is from there) and I went into a few comic boook stores and I found like no anime..I was going though withdrawl. I didnt think there were that many people into it in the east, I'm totally amazed and so interested. I can totally plan my next family trip around a con, yay!

There's not really a huge market, Animaritime is never going to be as bit as the Toronto conventions, but there is a reasonable a population. Fundy Hobbyton, the local geek shop (comics, manga, board games, tournaments etc) is doing well enough in little Sackville, and both of the local movie rental places have started to carry some anime titles. It's just taking longer to spread. Once places realize there is a market it will be filled, it just takes a bit sometimes for them to take the chance. The anime fanbase is growing slowly

Next time you're down, check out the Canada Anime Shopping guide which hasn't been updated in a bit so you might miss some of the newer ones, but it gives you something
(I did the same thing with the lack of anime when I came down here for school. Then I met others, and a club was started and then a con was started and we haven't stopped since )
