How on earth do you mount a duct-tape dummy so it'll stand up? Oh, and only a week left until the Christmas fueled fabric buying bonanza begins!

Moving is interesting. I never realized before that I owned approximately 15 tape measures and 21 pairs of scissors. Maybe I need to clean more often.

I'm on holiday, so I don't need to trip about that vinyl right now...HAHAHA!!!

A light stand (such as from a thrift store) perhaps? Maybe a mike stand?
You can stick it on there and pretend you're Vlad Tepes (the Impaler, aka Dracula - his birthday was a week or two ago).

That's a good idea Tenebrae. I do have a coat stand I picked up at Goodwill that I was hanging it on at first, but since I kind of want to use that for coats...besides, it would make the dummy a little tall for me to comfortably work on.

Does cannibalizing stuffed bunnies and teddy bears for their fur for my Merle costume make me a bad person?

I think it might work to start with an old dying umbrella and take it apart to use the pieces for a pattern and make new pieces out of a different fabric...like, say, shiny black PVC fabric with deep points!

And the bunnies? For an Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer cosplay, of course!

My mother made me so mad today while we were in Goodwill.

I brought my costume folder and pictures and was literally running around looking for a lab coat ( faust VIII) and she just yells and me and goes " Jessica! Put those away. We are here to buy clothes not to waste our money on whatever you are doing now a days. Be practical. What in gods name are you going to do with that?"

Mother you know nothing about cosplay and how much I love to do this. Try not and take away my only thing that I do with my time. K?

I went to Fabricana today - by myself - and it was a total waste. I didn't understand how to figure out the prices, where to find the cheap stuff, what fabric to get, and none of the store-ladies that saw me walking around like a lost puppy did ANYTHING to help.

I'm no good at fabric shopping alone. I'll have to drag my mom with me. She knows how fabric stores work.

Hanging the wig head upside down while it dries to form the spikes also helps.

I've been putting a layer of hairspray on the spikes, too. What was happening when I posted that was the spikes weren't sticking together in a linear fashion. I just had to use a bigger hairclip.

The gel actually has a strong enough bond with itself so that I don't have to hold it up.

One layer down - three hundred fifty five million to go. XP Bah, Riku's hair is a pain. Good thing I've started on it now, when the con I want to wear it to is five and a half months away.

Finally cut out the pattern for Riku. I guess I'll have to start modifying it tomorrow. Don't know how well that'll go over with my Home Ec. teacher, but since I'm the only sewing student out of a class of nearly 30, I think I'll be safe. After all, I've whittled away a good three months just drawing, and I never really got caught.

hmm.. i wonder what I should cosplay as.. i wonder if the majority of people at Anime Central will be in cosplay. I wonder if I should conform.. I rather just wear something cool and unique to myself. Become my own anime character.

Of course I did want to do batou from ghost in the shell since I'm somewhat a big guy with long hair.. but the optical device of the eyes seems somewhat difficult to manage. it seems a small metallic scope with the texture of a thimble is needed. I'm sure there is a type of body glue created for these types of things..

anyone know anime characters that wear all blue? pm me.
i could lose some weight and do sailor mercury crossplay. lol.
