Sakura-Con's policy on weaponry is here, under Section AA. IIRC, live steel is permitted, but must be sheathed at all times and peacebonded.

I really hate floral tape. Decided to using masking tape and glue instead. My flowers seem to be holding to the wire much better.

I'm unfamiliar with the area for starters, and I'm not sure how many cosplayers would be willing to participate; and even if I got a good amount ahead of time, I'd have to know who they'd be cosplaying as well in advance so I can go through tons and tons of anime footage and make screencaps to use as references so I can make shots that'll sync up with the "live action" footage. And then I'd probably need to go through even more footage than that, in case I meet up with any other cosplayers who'd be willing to participate. @-@;...
For Sakura-con, I'd suggest going to the sakura-con forums (at Sakuracon.org) and asking people if they'd be interested in participating. You could also ask if they'd be willing to suggest some footage, especially since there will be a lot of characters you might not be familiar with.

This thread lists some of the areas that photoshoots are held in. And there are links to pictures of each area, to give you an idea of what they look like, as well as landmarks to meet people by.

Yeah, that's what I'd read. People keep telling me cons don't allow them and I keep relaying the info about Sakura con being different.

Thank you, I'll look into it! >u< I'm just worried about not getting enough participants and what have you, since I don't know how many people would be up to it. I hate taking up others' time, especially since cons are generally so busy. xD; And I'd hate to cancel it if not enough people sign up, since the people who DID sign up might be disappointed... @-@;

It's an interesting project, so you'd most likely get enough people to fill out your roster. You never know until you try, right?

Just curious though, how many people do you need for this?

I hope so. xD

And really it's as many people as I can get; with my first video I had 5 cosplayers (including myself) and all of us used a total of I think 13 cosplays (I couldn't exactly make them do a billion costume changes in one day of shooting; three costume changes for three of the cosplayers was already pushing it, haha). For my next video I want bigger range of characters/footage, since with my previous project I was really limited in what I could use (and ultimately did my best to work with characters that fit a fantasy theme.)

So if I only got, say, ten to fifteen people to sign up with one costume each, that still doesn't give me a huge amount to work with, especially since the music I have in mind would probably require quick cuts between footage so it syncs with said music (if that makes any sense) so you'd end up seeing the same characters over and over and over again, and I'm afraid that could get dull. If I had maybe around 20 - 30 characters, I think that'd give me a much better range and more options in terms of anime footage. But I don't want to ask for too much... @-@;

Gosh, I hope that mess of gibberish made sense. I ramble too much when I try to explain my projects. :x

I'm stuck on how to make the scissor sword thing for Gisen o__o I won't need it until July, but I want to plan how I'll make it ahead, but I'm really stuck, does anyone have any ideas? What material and how would I be able to make the whole scissor effect? >__<;
Ref pic
I should probably make a thread in the prop section of the forum for this.. but if anyone instantly has an idea feel free to tell me ^^;

No, it made sense~ And wow. That is going to be a time intensive project. If you mixed them together right though, you could probably get away with using multiple clips of the same question - it's kind of the same thing with the cosplay music videos, where you get a peak at one costume, and then you get to see it again later. That's just how I see it though~

I'd offer to be part of the body count, but I can't fly, and my other character is from a video game. It sounds like an interesting project~ And I wish you luck.

Also, would a styrofoam wig head be okay? Since it's all my budget can handle at the moment..

Anyone have any suggestions on softening up a new outfit/costume? It's made from cotton but it's a little stiff and didn't soften much in the wash/dryer. I used a fabric softener sheet but it's a generic brand.

Styrofoam wig heads are great. I have a couple and they work wonders for helping me style a wig or just keep them nice and untangled. Just be careful, because those wig heads are smaller than normal heads, so if you're cutting you'll want to put it on occasionally while styling to make sure you're cutting the right amount. I've messed up a wig or two doing that.

When I originally pitched the idea to one of my friends who ended up participating in my last project she actually said, "You like to do difficult things, don't you?" xD;;;

That is a good point. o3o I'm also still deciding on the specifics of how I want to set up the next video though; I could either go the same "dramatic" route (if you can call it that), or opt for a more "fun" style with a lot of dancing and lip-syncing, in which I'd need to be more specific when requesting cosplayers to wear costumes of certain characters.

And I appreciate the thought and your advice, thank you! :'D

Hah! Don't I know it! I wasn't using the proper tools to remove the shielding off of cables when I was installing this one home theater system.

Will it not fall over while I style the wig?
The problem with my makeshift wig head is that if kept falling over, so I had to hold the wig head while I style it. And my head is quite small but I'll keep that in mind!
