Lemme double check on that, because we're not really publicizing it all that much. I'm pretty sure that Monday, when there is very light programming, will not cost anything. Friday may be the same thing, but there's no access to the Friday Night Social.

What time does programming start on Friday?

I'm deciding whether to arrive on Friday or arrive on Thursday.

I don't think it's official, but $50 for one day, which allows you into the masquerade(s) that day. Friday and Monday will most likely be free, but does not allow entrance to the Friday Night Social.

Programming hasn't even begun to get scheduled, but my guess is light programming will begin around 10 am.

Thursday might not be a bad idea, although it would cost you another room night, because we plan to have the Costumer' Suite open in the evening for schmoozing and early pre-registration. It's a pretty relaxed way to meet the staff and other early arrivers.

My friends and I are planning already for this... I keep waiting to see what the programming will be like. ^-^ And for hotel rates to be up so we can book while it's cheap.

Too bad I can't win any of those free passes to Costume-con. That would save a fair chunk of money. I think it's a great idea, though. It'll get the word out there to anime and other costumers about costume-con. And most people usually don't turn down a free con entry pass.

Today's question - what exactly is the Friday Night social? Does it involve some sort of costume contest? Or just costumes for fun?

Traditionally, it's just for fun. Usually, there is also a theme involved as well, and CC25's theme seems to be Rock 'n' Roll. Last year's was Stargate related, and the year before was Halloween at Hogwarts.

Hee. I am soooooooo tempted to actually try to go...even though it's the same year I go to Japan. I want an excuse to dress as one of the members of Poison....from waaaaaay back in the day.

The theory is, the hotel reservation link will be up when the con is a year out, which is soon, but I can tell you now they're $95 single - quad per day.

As Dany said, the social is just that. It's for hanging out, meeting people, etc. You can wear any costume, but since the theme is R 'n' R, any costume, from Elvis to a roady will be welcome. Use your imagination. J-Rock would be just as appropriate, for that matter.

Wups. Forgot to address that.

There will be the usual panels, but we have some special plans as well. when they're firmed up, we'll announce them. But here's a scoop: we will have a Mad Max Car display.

We're looking into booking a bus as a group to go down in 2007. Would you be interested? I'm not looking for a solid commitment, just an idea of who's interested. ^_^

Cheers!

A BUS?! There's that many people? Wow. Or would it be a large van with people alternating driving duty? It would be nicer to transport stuff, and I love a good road trip.

Oselle and I thought about driving, but it will take at least half a day, and we don't know about the time off yet. So we're going to look into flights and see how much they cost. It's the Time vs Money thing and which one is worth more in that instance. It's a bit early for me to say right now, but once I'm home in Ontario and know my school schedule and have a job I can probably say. I think I'll be taking an entire week of regardless...

Go for it. We tried to get a charter to Atlanta 3 years ago, but it fell apart because too many people were unwilling to pare down the amount of crap they wanted to bring with them. As one of the early dropouts said, "we're rather stuff intensive". There were also a few people who were unwilling to be tied to a specific schedule, etc.

So a few of us rented a 15 passenger van and made the trip quite nicely.

Depending on the size of your bus and amount of costumes y'all want to bring, you probably don't want to fill more than half the seats with bodies.

Did you miss out on Costume-Con on Memorial Day Weekend, in Des Moines? Did you know you have another opportunity to meet fellow costumers from all over in less than 10 months? Ask anyone who was there – Saeto, Karisu, (and others) – it’s a golden opportunity to learn, strut your stuff, and have a lot of fun!

We’ll have lots of special programming to make this the best CC yet.

Like fast cars and leather? Then you’ll love the (Post-Apocalyptic Car Show)! We’ll have a Mad Max movie recreation, complete with authentic vehicles, costumes and furry companions. There’ll also be a panel on how you, too, can become a Road Warrior!

This shameless plug brought to you by the Co-chairman of CC25.

Looks like I gotta catch upon the older movies before this CC... what little I know of Mad Max came from about 1/2 hour on TV years ago...

Looking forward to the programming/panels! *wants to learn new stuff*

Actually, instead of catching up on old movies, you might want to brush up on your rock 'n' roll...as that is the theme for CC25. CC24 's theme was epic movies

Personally, if there is any Costume-Con I -should- go to, it's that one...I'm all for pulling together a weekend full of 80's hair band costuming. As a matter of fact, if I could pull together a group of people to pull off the members of Poison, I'd be totally geeky.

Of course, I'd have to actually GET to CC25.......

I'd say that Jem & The Holograms counts as an 80's band.
