That "I must cosplay at least three people from this RIGHT NOW" feeling that comes with getting into a fandom coming when I'm broke and the person who's going to do the partner cosplay with me is broke too.

How my package(cosplay prop) arrives at my college dorm location....when I already left to go home.

To make matters worse, I'm not going back until the end of January. T_T

When you really want to cosplay a character where everything is easy but the wig. I'm looking at you Yusuke. I want to cosplay you but your hair is a monster.

When people ask me about my tattoos and cosplaying. It drives me insane. Yes I have tattoos, do they affect my cosplays? No. They're a part of me and I love them.

Or when people say I can't cosplay certain characters because of my tattoos. It's my body, not yours. Nuff said.

i know not all SCA are like that I just happened to have my living history group in Labrador get taken over buy a bunch that had 4 narcissistic history majors. It made the entire group disband. Sad to my court dress I had custom made for my 1570 stuff to represent my family line showed up 3 weeks after it disbanded. i have a really nice crusade era apothecary outfit I wore the most but its been retired pretty much now. I did a lot of black pestilence stuff with that one

doing a cosplay that is a nightmare to go to the bathroom in. plugsuits are very cool to wear and bring a lot of attention. downside, they are a nightmare to wear especially when you have to go to the bathroom.

That feeling of "Everything has such cool designs and that would be an awesome wig to have and this is so awesome!"....right after I get a wig I ordered shortly before now because I was so pscyhed about this fandom. Granted, I still do love this and want to cosplay it...but Rikka from Chunibyo is MAJORLY tempting me because I've always wanted to do a character with her kind of hairstyle, she's really adorable, and her outfit would be easy to get if I could find the right kind of plaid skirt.
..also, not being able to find an item that seems really simple. Like a plaid skirt. Honestly, since when did these things become only for children and "sexy" costumes?
...and then detangling long wigs. It takes so long. OTL

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Inconsistent animation irks the living daylights outta me!

My cousin and my friend Su have gotten me to watch Sailor Moon for the first time. I absolutely love it and weirdly enough, the character I was most drawn to, cosplay wise is Zoisite. My only problem? His hair. Depending on the lighting, it bounces between really blonde to really orange and every color in between. It also changes lengths between scenes, going from between his shoulder blades to down past his waist in the length of one cut. I've found a website that sells wigs in a good orange-in-one-light-blonde-in-another color, but the length constantly jumping around is absolutely maddening.

When your mom says that she's not going to buy you a good-priced cosplay wig you really want for Christmas and doesn't explain why.

("because I said so" is not a reason, Mom!)

Two words.

Cosplay Deviants.

It's a company. Some girls desperate for attention and money have made a "sex sells" cash cow that drags down the image of cosplay girls. They reenforce the idea that cosplayers are only there to be fuel for fansaties and undress. BUT EVEN WORSE every week they post grainy, poorly lit, home webcam pictures of regular girls in thongs...... because that sooooooooooooo releates to cosplay. It's trashy.
COStume is part of the word that makes COSplay, if it a chick in panties it's NOT A COSPLAY. They are just dragging in the word to get more hits and money.

I hate them... from the very bottom of my otaku heart.

I've turned down 4 modeling offers and 2 porn offers because I care more about cosplay and it's image than a few "daaaaaaym girrrrl" comments or money.

I sit on the fence about this. While I think the site exhibits poor taste, I also believe that women should feel free to flaunt their goods if they want to. Really... what difference is there between Cosplay Deviants and your normal run-of-the-mill fetish site, except that the models are making a fetish out of cartoon characters?

Exactly that. I couldn't give a flying flip if they decide to be streetwalkers. But I start caring when they bring the word cosplay into into their "lets be slatterns for money" scheme. Even tho the majority of pictures are just girls, no wigs no contacts no costume, just home web cam thong shots, 5 or 6 a week. Or an open white button up shirt. The same garbage that can be found on any cam site with girls deparate for attention of any kind.

But this is just my pet peeve. Seriously, just knowing it might come up in an online serch after someone has been first introduced to the idea of cosplay makes blood come out of my eyes...

So what's yours?

Not going to lie, Cosplay Deviants used to bug the hell out of me because for a while, the cosplays and the photography were veeeery lacking in quality, and I'd seen screenshots of models flocking to 4chan to basically accuse all their critics of just being jealous. It looked very much like their early days were marked with a sense of self-importance that was not necessarily earned. Based on the work-safe stuff I've recently seen come up on Google searches and deviartart though, it looks like both fields have improved.

But in general, any sort of "hay look at the sexy nerd chick" website, whether it's worksafe or not, is not my cup of tea because it panders, and reinforces the idea that female nerds belong on pedestals - which, while appearing positive, is still an act of treating girls differently on principle, which means it's still sexism. So, I'm really not comfortable with girls going along with something that potentially harms all women just because it gives them the benefit of popularity. But that said, it can be debated for all eternity whether or not all pornography is inherently oppressive and harmful to women. So in a way, the issues some people have with Cosplay Deviants go beyond cosplay or the geek subculture.

Not trying to pick on you, but this is the very definition of slut-shaming. It does a disservice to our culture just like the "slatterns" you so abhore.

If some guy wants to pay money to look at unattainable women dressed up as equally unattainable cartoons, then who are we to say they can't? If someone decides to fill that desire with a website the allows them to do just that, who are we to say they can't?

Granted, I do know a few people that use cosplay as a means to call attention to their bodies and I find it to be poor taste. (Why bother making the costume if you're just going to strip it off and throw it on a dirty stage or floor?) But I'm not the type of person to tell them they can't do just that. I just choose to dissociate myself from them.

And if some skeezoid gets the wrong idea about what I do because of a site like Cosplay Deviants... Well, that's why block buttons were invented.
