Having to redo parts of a costume you already 'finished'.

I did a rush job to complete my Young Justice Robin cosplay for Halloween, knowing I'd have to go back and redo some of the quick fixes, but now that it's Christmas break, all I want to do is start on a new one rather than bother with that one!

And guys need to realize that if they want to crossplay, they're going to have to suck it up and put on some makeup. >__<

Everywhere being out of styrofoam rolls. Only place I found them is online and they cost more to ship then to actually buy them, so its not something I want to do. However, I can't find them in person because all the craft stores here are out. (WHY!?!) So...
i might just try and find a different way to do this.

Peeve:

when younger cosplayer friends feel the need claim or state who you can or can't cosplay because in their other groups of friends they claim your said character you plan to cosplay as their friend and thus no one can cosplay their character. Welp! already had that conversation and stand by the fact that regardless, i cosplay who i want, when i want and don't care about your little thing going on. phew! had to get that off meh chest.

Also another peeve, when at a con hearing people have mini conversational hissy fits about another cosplayer's costume. Like whether they missed something, lacked a wig, better makeup and etc. Granted personally i strive to have all things in my cosplay, but that person and what they did is not of my concern and why let it bother you in some "high degree". Point is they really wanted to cosplay, what right do i have to judge them. It makes the outfit better and yes i honestly understand, but the point still comes to fact that they really want to at least do something for the character they love. I'm still taking pictures regardless.

my pet peeve would have to be those people that view cosplay as nothing but a competition...always comparing people's costumes in and out of the actual masquerades and craftsmenship...and those whose sole purpose is 'to be the best'. It's not like any of us are getting paid for this...it's a hobby. And i personally don't think that because someones costume didn't cost 200+ that it should be looked at as ugly or stupid or compared to someone elses costume PERIOD

also hate the fact that ethinicity is still a big debate and people want cosplayers to look like the character. I am african-american so it hits deeply when my friends and i work hard on costumes only to be overlooked.

Agree to everything! Ethnicity is still a problem to some. They think that you must be really pale and cute asian looking (Which i'm not. I'm tan and from China) And when I go to the conventions, they see me as this cute cosplayer only tan and they have that (Tan? That character isn't tan!)

That reminds me of SCA how they get all insane about historical accuracy. I didn't do that stuff or cosplay for accuracy. I do it because I like to do it and these historical "Nazis" can stick their accuracy up their butt-holes. Every time some person gets a major in history they get all narcissistic about that stuff. I mean my god man we are here to have fun not actually live the era. If we were to live the era we would all be muddy dirty things not like on tv where they show these clean well kept fancy hair styled nobles lol

Please don't lump everyone in the SCA into the "historinazi" category. Not all of us in the group are like that. Hell, its more of a minority that are like that, its just unfortunate that they're also a very loud an vocal minority.

anyway, a current peeve of mine is sewing supplies disappearing right when you need them most. I could have this skirt finished by now if I could just figure out where the zipper went.

When people ask me about my tattoos and cosplaying. It drives me insane. Yes I have tattoos, do they affect my cosplays? No. They're a part of me and I love them.

Or when people say I can't cosplay certain characters because of my tattoos. It's my body, not yours. Nuff said.

i know not all SCA are like that I just happened to have my living history group in Labrador get taken over buy a bunch that had 4 narcissistic history majors. It made the entire group disband. Sad to my court dress I had custom made for my 1570 stuff to represent my family line showed up 3 weeks after it disbanded. i have a really nice crusade era apothecary outfit I wore the most but its been retired pretty much now. I did a lot of black pestilence stuff with that one

While at conventions getting stopped none stop for pictures all day...but when you get home...or even a year after said convention you can't find a single picture of your cosplay....i mean seriously...where did all the pictures go?! i would like to see at least one shot of my cosplay i works so hard on...

doing a cosplay that is a nightmare to go to the bathroom in. plugsuits are very cool to wear and bring a lot of attention. downside, they are a nightmare to wear especially when you have to go to the bathroom.
