Buying wigs for a cosplay and then remembering that I can't sew and in turn never end up doing the cosplay.
I seriously have like, three or four wigs sitting around my house that I have never used because of this.

Also, things taking a long time to be made and/or shipped. With commissions I can understand but with stores I just get really impatient. aaaaaa

Oh, and not knowing how much fabric I'll need to modify the hat I bought or knowing the best way to go about modifying said hat. It was a fairly expensive hat so I'd rather not mess it up.

That is the ONLY problem I have with some Homestuck cosplayers. Otakon apparently had an issue with that last year with some people who didn't seal their body paint and got it on the walls and carpet in the Hilton and some places in the convention center.

I don't think that's the fandom/series fault, but that of irresponsible people. And then those few give everyone else a bad name.

And as for a current peeve: Finding multiple wigs for a cosplay and not being able to pick one cuz they're all so similar. -___-

Yeah when I went to ALA, I woke up in the morning of the last day and I had a view of the pool area and the hotel people were cleaning the jacuzzi because apparently some HS cosplayers yup in there. :\

I've probably posted this peeve before but here I go again.
Being a kid cosplayer with a mom who let's you do it, but is always annoyed about it.

I can't look at cosplay in front of her without her saying some crap like, "Haven't you looked at cosplay enough today?! Look at something else! You need to think about something else, you're becoming too enthralled in all of this 'anime' stuff!" (approximately what she said)

What....the...? What are you talking about? I think about other stuff, she just doesn't believe I do! She doesn't want to believe I do!! I know she secretly wants me to get all obsessed with it so she has a reason to make me stop.

Even if I casually say something cosplay-related to her, as soon as she hears the word "cosplay" she sighs and shakes her head. Other times she YELLS her response at me or lectures. She makes me not want to cosplay at all at times. Really. If I have to go through crap whenever I say something related to this hobby, then I don't wanna do it one bit. It's not worth it, in my eyes...

/end rant

P.S. if there's any fellow minors out there that have super-supportive cosplay parents who actually like the hobby and don't throw hissy-fits at you when you mention, don't take it for granted. Ever.

I have to agree with this, though mine is much less severe. While I do still get flak from my mom about it being a "gay meetup" and about how everyone there HAS to be creeps or not true friends since they aren't my age, don't live in my area, etc. The actual process of cosplay she just goes along with now.

Though that is a big peeve of mine, being young and living far enough away from the city with overprotective parents that it severely limits what I can do in the one hobby I have. Any con I go to, I go one day and I'm constantly under dad's supervision. And I'm fine with that, I get why they're worried. But that also means whenever he wants to leave, I HAVE to leave. Seriously angry I could only stay at Momocon until 3:30. The ONE day in months I get to go have fun and you're making me leave early aafghdhjd.

Also, not being able to even have con friends over or room with anyone because my mom believes they're all gay or creeps. I want to be able to go all three days at a con, but my parents refuse to help me save up money for hotel costs or room or stay over with anyone because my mom considers them all strangers but then makes no effort to meet them (and even nearly scoffs when I talk about them because apparently she doesn't want me making so many friends or making friends with people she doesn't know). I get why they get worried, I understand their restrictions, but I still absolutely bloody hate those restrictions at the best of times. I would not be half as depressed and would enjoy cons so much more if you would please let me stay and room with my friends kthx

It's just..annoying. You let my sister who's only a few years older than me go to a different freaking country for two weeks, but you won't let me go and stay in a different freaking state or town for three days? I just...It feels so unfair.

I don't read Homestuck, but when I ran my local conventions Cosplay Chess, I tried not to discriminate against Homestuck cosplayers and I will say this... Homestuck cosplayers that go all out with the body paint; pretty hardcore. Good job! just please dont touch me lol. My cosplay is white.

People who bash on other peoples cosplays. Be it because it is bought or poorly made, people really shouldn't judge.

Not really a peeve, but it's been annoying me.

I've lost touch with all the people I know who do cosplay. So much so that I only have two other people for the room in Portcon. It's nice to have all the elbow room and to sleep in a bed, but paying so much for a hotel...

I have to find some new cosplay friends.

I'm speechless. I really don't know where to start.

First of all, "Gay meetup?" Wow, how mature. -_-

Second, Your parents sound unbelievable and COMPLETELY unfair. So they their slightly older daughter step onto the soil of another country, but they don't let their other daughter go to a harmless convention ACROSS TOWN to finally meet other people who share her interests and have fun for 72 hours

I'm at such a loss for words. How amazing....

My friend actually has the same issue as you(note: she is 20 at this point). Her dad is really super protective of her to the point that she was actually driven to our prom by her dad and not in the limo with the rest of us and she had to go home early.

Her parents do find the whole cosplay thing weird but from what I can tell they don't actively dislike the hobby. Heck, her parents were willing to drive me and her up to Canada every year for AnimeNorth. But the one condition we had was that the two of us needed to stay together at all times which we followed.

Since then, her parents have been much more willing to let her go somewhere with me(like, one time we went to the thrift store together for cosplay stuff and I drove. This is a huge thing and it was the first time she was ever allowed to go out with a friend like this). And last AnimeNext, her dad actually allowed her to let me drive her to the con and back and she might even get to go to Otakon with me this year as well which surprised all of us.

So maybe if you had a responsible friend that your parents can get to know, maybe it will lessen the worry they have?

They are total homophobics and have always suspected I was lesbian (but never truly noticed it until I started going to cons) and so she blames cons for "making me gay". I know.

And yes, I guess it's because she went with her youth group at church so their mindset is "Well, she's with more responsible people" even though every single one of my friends he's met, dad has liked. Honestly..I think if it were just my dad making the decisions, he'd have let me by now. But my mom is ridiculously overprotective of me being in a big city and refuses every single time.

I've tried. Problem is I'm usually not at cons long enough to meet or know a really responsible friend, and even if I did have one, deal's off if they live more than an hour away from me (Most of my friends live roughly an hour and a half away). I totally get their worries, I do, but mom is completely unreasonable when I try to stick to her limits. You don't want me to make friends at cons unless they are in a very specific group. Even if I do, you're hardly willing to drive half an hour to meet them and let us hang out. Whereas every time my sister wants to go on a church trip regardless of where it's at, you'll take her wherever she wants to or needs to go and let her go on her own.
I feel like there's some bias going on here.

That immensly sucks...
I think I want to quit cosplay for a while because I don't enjoy verbally sparring with my mother when I briefly bring p something cosplay related, etc, etx..

I'm really sorry for all the people with overbearing and picky parents. My mom basically lets me do whatever I want as long as I'm in college. v.v

Onto a peeve though, I love my best friend but I hate how he always comes up with big cosplay plans but then never goes through with them. Like last November we saw Wreck-It Ralph and decided to do a Sugar Rush cosplay group and he hasn't even started working on his costume yet. Hell, he hasn't even bought tickets to the con yet.
To be fair, I've barely worked on mine but I'm in school right now so it's kind of hard for me to do so. I might just have to either cancel or postpone my Crumbelina cosplay. Bleh.
