hum... regualr keybalde...not much clue, thinking of trying to figure out eh oblivion myself.but i thinkhte pvc pie would work well- lite and cheap.
wood would work but you have to watch out for getting it top heavy. to avoid that you could try a stiurofome of sorts- like that grren stuff at craft stores and cuting it... beats me though

I was thinking of using a fairly thick foam and cutting the shape of the key blade out of it, and then cover it with layers of bondo

Mah...I'm using solid wood for mine and, so far, it's turning out peachy. I'm in the middle of writing a tutorial, so I'll post that soon. Hopefully it may be of some help to people.

Alluminum not a good idea. The thing i dun like about it is that ir wrinkles out. Just stick to the sanding it down and painting it with primer ^_^

I was suggested to use sterofoam, plexiglass, pvc or ply wood. My boyfriend and I are getting into cosplay but focusing on weaponry since we both like weilding and jewelry making.
We started making the Pumpkin Head key, it's made from Cobalt Blue Steel and weighs about 15 pounds O_o. It's pretty awesome..if you can get your hands on something like that, do it, the real thing is so much fun to play with. I'll have to get a picture of it up here. |

Okay, I posted this in the other sword thread but I'll say it here too.
Go to a hobby store, buy the metalic paint they sell there. Many hobby stores have model airplanes and stoof, they should have that paint in order to make the plastic or wood look like metal. Also with wood, use MDF board. Ask for it at any home improvement or lumber yard. It is lighter, more durable, and sands up better than most plywoods. If you have any questions feel free to IM me or PM me. ^^ |

Don't use plywood, it warps too easily...
When I commissioned Riku's keyblade I made it out of 1x8, PVC pipe, wood, and bondo. |

Plywood yes, but MDF is a high quality pressed wood. I have never seen it warp.
