Talking Rent

As anyone here considered or has done costumes from the Broadway version /movie version Rent?

I keep having the urge to cosplay Angel's outfit during the La Vie Boheme scene, or at least make the skirt.

I've wanted to do one of Mimi's outfits, but unless you're going somewhere where everyone knows the movie then they'd look like trashy normal clothes.
I'd love to see an Angel cosplay, go for it!

*Squeal* I SO wanna comission someone to make Mark's scarf (Either the blue/gray or red/white one) for me! I'd wear it everyday (no mater how freaking hot it was).
My friends think I'm obsessed. ^_^ They have no idea... *Goes to find her dvd*

I have a Mark costume. Have had it for years! I just haven't been able to get pictures of it.
My Mark scarf actually was my moms my college. It's almost perfect. The exact colors, but not long enough to wrap around your neck. My sweater is from Canada when the Urban Outfitters up there did a RENT line back in 98? 99? Years ago! And my jacket was, surprisingly, found at Forever 21 this past Christmas. My costume is almost complete! I just need my chain necklace and the glasses and I'm done!
I would looove to make Mimi's Happy New Year costume (musical, not movie version). It's so cute.

My friends and I have an obsession with Mark from when we watched the movie, so we want his red and blue sweater very badly. If I somehow manage to learn how to make it or find it, something will happen.

I'm working on a Mark costume right now! Knitting his blue and grey scarf, sweater, my dads old coat from the 70's is just like his from the movie and I have the glasses and necklace from other costumes. YAY MARK!

I'm going to be doing Angel's Christmas dress soon, hopefully. Maybe even his New Year's, as well.

My mom is actually working on knitting my red and white Mark scarf right now. ^_^ This is so cool! I've also spent most of the morning trying to see if any of my friends are willing to help us reenact certain scenes from the film (La Vie Boheme, etc)

This is sooooo awesome. We rented the movie this weekend and I've watched it seven times so far. I know I would love to cosplay a Rent related costume sometime soon and I'm thinking Mark (figuring that I'm going to be chopping all my hair off soon I'll hopefully be able to get away with cosplaying boys for a while.. tee hee hee).. now if only I can talk other peoples to do it with me..

HEY GUYS!! *watches friends run away*

me and my friends are hopeing to get together and have a RENT party sort of like a rocky horror party idea where everyone comes dresses up as their fav. chracters. We have two guys who would make wicked angel's...and dress up as Angel of their own free well. Another who is Roger (dress like him, looks like him), and the rest are total Rentheads and in for being the others as well ^___^

Also want to do an air band at school to La Vie Boheme, yayness. *jumps up on table and spaz dances *

I can't wait to see more of these Rent costumes y'all are making!
I wore my Mark costume to one of the Benny tour shows in Ohio years back. I loooved it and got so many compliments. I also wore it to the movie premier here in Orlando. Mark sweater+70 degree weather= sweating hot me!! I wouldn't reccomend wearing a knit long-sleeved sweater in Orlando when it's that hot...ever.
Good luck everyone!

Hmmmm, red/white scarf or blue/gray scarf? >.< I can't decide! They're both so pretty!

... *dances to La Vie Boheme!*

Anyone have any idea how to do Angels Santa suit? *Sweatdrop* Those tights are going to be the killer part...

I have wanted to make Mimi's "Out Tonight" outfit (the Broadway version, with the blue spandex/vinyl pants, not the movie-stripper version...) ever since I saw the show on Broadway in 1996...

My dream may come true this summer, since the theatre group I'm working with is in the process of planning our summer shows for the resort we work at. The ONLY reason I suggested wanting to sing "Out Tonight" in one of our shows was because I wanted an excuse to make the costume!

I'm just wondering how a pasty, white girl who is pushing thirty will be able to pull off a hispanic character who is supposed to be 19... maybe this is a bad idea... LMFAO!!!!
(Hmmmm, I actually think Daphne Rubin-Vega might have been pushing thirty when she played the role on b-way...)

::runs off to gym to get in shape to wear blue vinyl::
