Sailor Pluto wig

I'm thinking of cosplaying Setsuna/Trista in her casual outfit, and I'm not sure what to do about her hair. My real hair would probably work okay, but I wanted to get a wig so it would be longer. Only thing is I'm not sure about is the color. In the anime her hair looks black in just about every shot, with lighter green highlights. Would I be able to achieve this look by getting a black wig and adding green hair color or spray over it in the places with the highlights? I don't know too much about wigs, so any help would be appreciated. ^_^;;

Well, in anime the highlights are not actual bands of color, but a shadowing effect. You could get away with a black wig, but I personally would buy a dark green one and then dye it darker so that it's almost black but not quite .

I know that the green isn't actually streaks, I was just wondering if I did it that way it would look more anime-ish. But I wasn't sure. Dying a wig sounds like a good idea, only thing is I have no idea how to go about doing that. I suppose I could learn, but it just seems like it'd be a lot of trouble. >.<

It's actually not that hard, just a little bit messy and kind of stinky XD. There's lots of threads in this forum about dying wigs, with recipies. I'll go ahead and give you my recipie if you want it - I've used it on quite a few commission wigs and it works great.

maybe she sharpie-colored it? if you want to dye the wig, look up the fw wig dye recipe on here. As far as I know, it's the easiest way. question: can you sharpie-highlight a black wig?

No, you can't color a black wig... the ink is transparent, so it won't show up. As far as the FW ink method goes, I've had -zip- luck with it, and I've tried it three times. The ink either comes all off when I rinse, or it leaves the hair super crispy.

Dagger - I PM'd you my recipie .

idk how she did it, she prolly had it custom made to that color or something, but i was thinkin, u no the lil fabric glue bottles ( at joan fabric or michaels) they have in many different colors? maybe u can use that and then comb it threw, so it wont be all glompy, cuz if u look in the cosplay pics it sorta looks like a rough surface like she put green glue in it. sorta lol but id test it on a diff wig first and see if it works and also try space invaders' method too, if it doesnt work, honestly id just go w/ a normal black wig. it looks great anyways and i dont think theres anythin wrong w/ just a normal black wig for pluto ^_^ the green is just a touch up for highlights, which u dont really need, normal black wig is great in my opinion ^_^

I think she probably manually highlighted a black wig with green extensions... that's what it looks like to me, anyways. But you never know, she could have bought it that way... Asia can kick out some bizarre looking wig color combos *_*.
