Music/Band Suggestions

Well I figured we could use this thread to suggest music to one another. So here it goes.

Anyways, lately I have been listening to Utada Hikaru and BoA, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for similar artists that I could check out?

As far as punk music goes, I highly suggest No Substance and Process of Belief by Bad Religion. Both are excellent albums. Also if you like skater punk, check out The Ataris they are pretty good.

If you like Gothic Music I suggest London After Midnight and Christian Death featuring Rozz Williams.

I also recommend Pink Floyd and Tool for rock.

My favorite for instrumental and feminist music is Tori Amos.

And for new creative foreign artists I recommend T.A.T.U.

Also, The VPMiyu soundtrack imported is really great.

I reccomend Jack*Off*Jill and Scarling. to people who like heavy music. Their lead singer, Jessicka, is AWESOME.

As far as J-Rock, I *ALWAYS* reccomend Malice Mizer (Gackt era) and solo Gackt. ^^

Yes try Shiina Ringo. Don't just download one of her songs and base your liking of her off the one song because nearly ALL of her songs are different...genre-wise and whatnot. I also recommend Ryuichi Sakamoto/Yellow Magic Orchestra.

And poi-sonally! If you're into classical music at all, check out Bond, this British group of girls....theyre a string quartet. They do classical but like...with a modern/pop/techno spin to things. REALLY good stuff. However, I find if you are searching for them on Kazaa or something, put in "Bond Girls" instead of Bond...that only gets James Bond stuff. :P

Hmm, I recommend the Smiths for EVERYONE!

Punk: I recommend old stand-bys like Ramones, Sex Pistols, really early Cure, Black Flag, Minor Threat, The Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys and old Misfits. There's also NOFX and Bad Religion.

"Goth"(it has a dozen genres in itself): London After Midnight is a good one. I would also recommend The Shroud, Human Drama, Cure, Joy Division ( since they were the band that inspired the term "goth"), Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Siouxsie, The Creatures, Fields of the Nephilim, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, New Model Army.....and on and on.

Rockbilly/Swing/ska: The Reverend Horton Heat (hands down, THE Rockabilly King), Southern Culture on the Skids, The Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Pietasters...

Industrial & Other random heavy stuff: Rammstein (German versions), Type O Negative, White Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Atari Teenage Riot, Alec Empire(^_~ Chris!)

There are too many for me to recommend. I love helping people discover bands. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside --or maybe that's just the mold.

I was listening to one of my cds the other day, and it reminded me of the Offspring and Sublime. The band is called Kicked in the Head and the cd is titled "Thick As Theives". Very very good if you're fans of the Offspring and Sublime. At least in my opinion.
